Using TMW graphics in other game

Post by Darkhog »

I am both developer of engine based on Eclipse Origins called DarkEclipse and MMO game in it (game is in Polish and very early in development so useless for most of you). So I wonder if I could use TMW graphics (mainly monsters, though some of tiles may be useful too) in my project.

Game is non-commercial now, though I may monetize on it in future (if such event happen, I'll confirm graphics status and will remove all license-restricted ones).

Most tmw graphics are GPL so you would need to figure out wich ones you want to use exactly and make sure that they are infact GPL. Please read the license Its allot of reading but will clear up any questions you may have about "monitizing" them. Also be sure to pay attention to the version of GPL being used. If the version is not specified you may assume all versions apply or the one that best fits your needs, don't quote me on this.

gpl generally means free to use, edit, change ect.... You will be required to provide the source of the file on transfer. So when sombody recives the image, in this case, you must provide them with the graphic in its originated format (usually .png) and it would not be a bad idea to give them a copy of the gpl license either (I'm pretty sure on this but once again don't quote me on this I'm just now paying attention to these things). Please make sure you do your research and figure out what license the graphics you intend to use are under. I believe you may only charge for the transfer of the gpl item from yourself to the next person don't take my word on this read for yourself. Please read http://www.gnu.org/licenses/ to answer any questions you may have about gpl.

That being said... we are here to develope a game "the mana world" we are a non profit team who spends some of our free time to work on this project. Hopefully we will see you help us with development later on :)

P.S I think we accept donations ;)

That means you can use them when you also license your game under the GNU General Public License.

You can credit the "The Mana World Development Team".

So as Crush said, every tmw graphics are GPLed.

All art for TMW is available under GPL 2+.

Some authors may also make their work available under additional licenses, but in order for it to be made part of the game, it must be usable under GPL 2+.
