Ah, sorry guys, I think now I see my problem .
I will try to overwork everything and get a distance to the implementation.
edit: okay, I started adding a overworked system to the bottom of http://themanaworld.sf.net/wiki?ObjectUsage

But then you'll need to think about every object in the world, which weapon type it is instead of letting all be decided automaticly. For example: if you would attack a creature by throwing an apple? is the apple then a throwing weapon? if you hit the creature with it, what is the apple then? how wo...

This is completly right, but I personally don't see a problem for the user - I mean, you can hide as much as possible from the user, so he doesn't has to manage all the comlex interiors. Could you give me an example for the problem arousing from my ideas with the human interaction? btw: If we don't ...

Dropping item would be nothing more than player->store_entity(player->inventory->object_to_drop, world) ...the Problem: How are game object and their relation to the world currently managed? I think of something like that: We've got a world-object, which is - among other things - a container for a l...

System that manages the using of game objects
Hi!
With the permission of Kyokai I put my description of a system that describes how the usage of game objects is managed in The Mana World into the wiki:
http://themanaworld.sf.net/wiki?ObjectUsage
Please discuss this approach here.

I've got a suggestion for the weapon skills: Why using weapon types? Why not giving the player the abilitie to use EVERY object he can carry to attack in a list of ways and express his attacking abilities via these attack skills? I think it's better to think about HOW he attacks and not with WHAT he...

Yeah, good suggestion Rotonen! I think this randomness shoulde be part of every manipualtion process in relation to you skills and attributes. I.e. (coming back to my example with the bread) you could randomly produce bread which heals you (I'm not assuming now that normal food gives back HP), if yo...

Hi Kyokai! #1: I like that approach about getting new spells by completing (maybe automaticly generated) quests - it would make the process of getting a new spell MUCH more special and juicy for the involved player: it makes a big difference if you just buy a mighty spell than to have to complete a ...

Do players need to eat, drink and sleep? No, I think I said that in the needs-suggestion :) The only two needs that I think are useful for a player are stamina(so resting is needed after long runs) and fatigue(sleeping), alway care to eat and drink would mean no fun, so I think this should be maybe...
