Sorry for using you guys as guinea pigs, but I feel comfortable getting advise and feedback from this forum (before I take it over to a pixel art one anyway).

isometric help

Hey, I'm currently working on a isometric tileset and I'm having difficulties understanding how best to edit and arrange them (I'm also having a lot of issues trying to map with them in Tiled) . Can anyone here point me to some resources or information that might help me?

Re: TMW's goal

I (and I'm certain many others) contributed to that end, was it all for nothing? Do you really feel so? IMO every contributor can be proud of himself/herself to have made many people happy playing a nice "old school" 2D MMORPG, TMW, regardless of whether it's SoM-like or not. I dislike th...

Re: TMW's goal

Goal? I'm not sure there is one, or even needs to be one. TMW has attracted many awesome developers and artists throughout the ages. These people work to move their personal vision for the game forward, then eventually wander off to other things. The goal of TMW is the sum of the goals of whoever's...

Re: TMW's goal

“the content lead works as a moderator and picks what (s)he thinks fit into the game” From what I’ve seen and experienced whenever anyone attempts to enforce standards, another developer will try to override them for fear they might scare away any contributors. Or they just use to an appeal to tradi...

Re: TMW's goal

From my point of view there is no set goal, everyone has their own goals, the project as a whole has all those goals as goals in some way. The players goal is probably to have as fun as possible, the content deverlopers probably to make as good quests as possible, the art people to make as nice ite...

Re: TMW's goal

From what I could discern the pre-alpha community grew overly attached to a game that was never intended to reflect the finished product. Now the goal seems to be more administrative in nature (most of the infighting now a days tend to revolves around whose the administrator, and what GM is doing wh...

Re: RoBrowser - HTML5 Ragnarok/eAthena client

Never understood why we abandoned the original vision for TMW... Wasn't the idea to create a 2D action MMORPG that plays and looks similar to games within the Seiken Densetsu series.

Re: Grass set [WIP]

You are probably already aware of much of this (if not all of it) but I'll post it anyways. Usually when I paint, I'm using various ideas from color theory. One of the most basic of which is that cool colors generally seem further away than warm colors (sat and brightness also play a role). Warm to ...

Re: Grass set [WIP]

The color is a notable improvement, would still like to see a little more color variation in the grass.

Re: Grass set [WIP]

I wanted to see what would happen if we integrated the cliffs into the pre-existing grass tiles (rather than the WOA ones). Not sure if it’s an improvement on anything, but it’s worth posting.

Re: Len's Desert Ground [WIP] (Revisted)

Your certainly correct in enlarging the cave entrance to better accommodate the player sprite. But, It seems you accidentally lightened the cave entrance while editing it, and some of the added dithering is a little strange to me.

Re: Questionable "Developer": Chay

I think every TMW Dev has gone (or will go) on a trolling rampage at least once during their tenure (this is most likely due to the maddening levels of gridlock in the development process). This will eventually culminate in said developer losing interest and leaving the project, only to appear from ...
