I am a mac programmer, but im nervous about joining tmw development because of my lack of SDL knowledge and experience. Also, why does SDL have to be used to play sound on the mac? There are other tools for accomplishing the task that might work better for us mac users. Splitting the codebase based...

ktm wrote:i believe not, though i'm not totally sure as a non-mac user. anyways, mac archives usually come as stuffit (.sit) files, not zip. (hey, just mentioning...)
Stuffit is not included in the latest version of the system. Zip is, as is .dmg. I'm pretty sure Apple is trying to get rid of .sit.

Emulation will stop being hardware emulation Hardware emulation is probably by far the best reason that Windows emus suck, they just can't get it to do it right, but please, please tell me that Macs still won't need sound cards! nForce motherboards (among others) have onboard sound for PCs, so I se...

Emulation will stop being hardware emulation for x86 progs, yes. but think about all the old mac progs, which'd either need porting, or a ppc emu. and afaik there aren't really any ppc emus to speak of (pearpc is SLOW!) A PowerPC emulator is built into the x86 version of OSX. Reportedly a 3.6GHz P4...

Yeah, the last link I posted does appear to be busted. I'll have another shot in a bit (hopefully after I get a new binary to work with).

Yeah, the sound code crashes at the moment. I'll post a new build shortly that a) has only one Dock icon (it worked even better than I'd expected), b) has sound turned off, and c) has an application icon.
