Notification of absence

I am currently on vacation, visiting my girlfriend in Vaasa, in western Finland. I will not return home until after two to three weeks, so until then I will have very little if any input whatsoever for TMW.

Hrrmm... If nothing else, I'll have to make a new poll with only the two winning names "Tulimshar" and "Shimris". But, I'll let this hang for a while longer...

Of course death will require a penalty like having to start a dungeon over again, or something like that, but what I really mean in all this is that a player should not be forced to repeat more than 15 minutes of gameplay again. If he has accomplished a long and arduous quest for a creature like a ...

Game design theory (from Proposed Spell List in Suggestions)

From Proposed Spell List in Suggestions/Feedback. I agree that we shouldn't promote negligence toward familiars, but come on, if I accidentally stumble into a high level monster who chops my familiar up in one hit, there goes a 5 hour+ quest? Nobody likes those kind of restrictions. Perhaps if we al...

There isn't any... ? Actually, if you need to squeeze in snow on some edge, it'd logically be in the highest mountain peaks.

For once, Kyokai, I'd have to say I don't agree with anything in your last post. Penalties have a reason for being there; if familiars respawn, players won't care as much. Losing progress is not something that's supposed to happen to you, it's a punishment for being reckless - or just for having bad...

About the familiar dying, D&D (3rd Ed. and onwards) imposes a permanent Con penalty (-1 Con, according to the D20-system) on the spellcaster when their familiar dies (or was it when the familiar was created? Hmm...). The reason is because the familiar is "tied" to the spellcaster, and ...

I'd have to say it looks very good at a glance; I'll take a closer evaluation of it later on, perhaps tomorrow. But, all in all, very good work from what I gather.

The main point is that wherein "the watchers from afar" specify "the" in the translation, "blood hungry" looks just like two evil-sounding words piled there for no apparent reason. There's not even a "the" there (not that it would do much of a difference witho...

The name of the Desert Kingdom

"Amzeroth" is unsuitable, as it's too similiar to Blizzard's "Azeroth", the world from the Warcraft series... There are some suggestions here, but if none of those are good, you are free to propose your own. All of the alternatives here are conjured by me, because I've not heard ...

It would have been a good idea to coordinate the temple descriptions on the Wiki with the NPC writer(s), who are responsible for creating the sages themselves, or at least writing them up, so to speak. Well, nothing's carved into stone yet, but I've been conjuring up sages and mages left and right, ...

I'm for the amulet-system proposed; maybe make the amulet a quest-item, and the quest rather hard (not impossible), maybe even requiring teaming-up (in which case everyone involved of sufficiently high level would get one). I know teaming-up isn't implemented, but whatever. Point being, make it rewa...

(quite good points) You are right, you know. A balance is always a good idea; I was never telling you to force a rigid good-evil-division, either, but more so telling you not to avoid it like the plague. How about, instead of a simple line or such, you could envision the "alignment" axis ...

Likewise; the ice-blue teal colour feels too cold; the world's supposed to be a generally "average" world, not an ice-world. I more like the warm glow of green on this one.

Rotonen made a post on PelitOnline, the forum of Finland's biggest console and PC-games mag., and I got curious about writers being needed. Well, go figure.
