I was thinking of how beautiful Legend of Mana is, and how that kind of scenery could be adapted to next-gen 2D tile techniques. It would certainly set Mana World apart. That said, I see what you're saying and understand the difficulty and time-consuming nature of this particular approach. It's prob...

Complete map in tiles?
Has anyone done this? By this I mean creating an entire map, then breaking it down into tiles for reconstruction later. This is in contrast to making some tiles, then using them to build a map. Personally, I think this would make for some absolutely beautiful maps. Is this doable from a code perspec...

One arrow, perhaps, if they saw it coming and had nothing to distract them. Shields come in many flavors. A buckler, for example, is almost useless for blocking arrows - especially stronger, faster ones like crossbow bolts. A tower shield will protect the wielder from most arrows. In that case, the...

Now then, trying to parry a ranged attack would be very difficult, unless you specifically trained to do so. With a sheild, blocking arrow is quite easy. On the other hand, well trained people can intercept arrows with their sword or club. One arrow, perhaps, if they saw it coming and had nothing t...

Runescape is a travesty of an MMORPG. I don't understand why it appeals to so many people. World of Warcraft, Star Wars Galaxies, and other MMORPGs of similar size and caliber are completely different from what Mana World is intended to be, so it's not really fair to compare them. Monsters taken fro...

Unified theme?
What is the unified theme of Mana World's art intended to be? What makes it uniquely Mana World, instead of %insert name of existing CRPG/MMORPG here% ?

Not bad. I think the center column needs more shading though. The top bit should put most of it into shadow. Also, add some transparency to the water. Real water is not pure blue, and neither is the water in Secret of Mana / Chrono Trigger / FFVI. I like the stone texture, very gritty. Good job on t...
