Re: Ubuntu 8.04.1: Attack Error
It seems that when I try to move past enemies sometimes they attack when they are long gone out of my screen. I'm on Ubuntu 8.04.1, Cable Internet Connection, and using client 0.0.25 This is a very old bug: http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4031 If you're comfortable patching a...

Re: Help with install of source 0.0.25
For each of the dependencies, you need to install *two* packages. One for the library. Another for the "development headers". This error means that you have not installed the "development headers" for the SDL_net package. To fix: "sudo apt-get install libsdl-net1.2-dev"...

Re: Critical damage
I have a few questions in regards to critical damage by creatures. First off, what's the percentage chance of a creature gaining a critical hit? how much more damage does it do? Does it ignore both vitality and armour, or is it mitigated by one or both? does things like agility and dex help off set...

Re: Flowers not defending themselves properly
hello, a bit of reopening for flowers... but it might affect other monster as well... according to BlackBird player The attack range of monsters seems to be longer when there is obstruction around. Easier to test on flower which do not move (but do not always counter-attack  ). If the path-l...

Re: Are the player sprites left or right handed?
The whole layer system for a player sprite has to be upgraded IMO. There are issues like: - Hair sticking out of helmets - Incorrect layer position (http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4368) - Arm behind hair / helmets (http://mantis.themanaworld.org/view.php?id=313) - Swapping s...

Are the player sprites left or right handed?
While working with a new spritesheet for a shield (Thanks, Angeliex), I stumbled upon a rather nasty issue in the playersets. Whether the player is using the left or right hand for an attack depends on which direction the sprite is facing... For example, with the right-facing "punch/stab" ...

Re: Command line control of home directory
It would be nice if we could change the location of the home directory with the command line. I often run the game off an external harddrive and would like to keep all of the data there without having to move stuff back and forth. It's also useful under roaming profiles where what the game thinks i...

Re: Ranger hat flap under armor from back view.
Some future hats may be large enough for the hand to be behind them in the bow animation. Moving the cape outside the gloves should be good enough for most animations. Additional layers may be needed. I don't think that's a viable solution. If the cape is moved outward, it'll be above hair, which m...

Re: Ranger hat flap under armor from back view.
Ok, the gloves are proving to be a major headache. Having the gloves "outside" of the cape layer will not work. Here's a screenshot Moving them to the GLOVES_BOTTOM_SPRITE is not a solution - then they'll be below the base sprite (without a cape, we'd see the hands, not the gloves. Here ar...

Re: Ranger hat flap under armor from back view.
Black Don, I realize that most of the cape wasn't your work, but, well, there are some problems with it. First off, there appears to be a light outline around the cape. I didn't notice at first, as it's pretty much invisible against the desert background. Once I got onto a paved road, it really jump...
