Re: BLACKLIST!!!!!!
Hi, I know that as a non-member I don't really have a say in this, but as an external observer my opinion is that the blacklist (a) is now largely obsolete, (b) is inherently easy to abuse, (c) is unlikely to have any positive effect (what spammer/dropstealer cares about this list?) and (d) makes th...

Re: cooperation = more xp
Hi,
from what I have been told and from what I have seen, that is already the case. A monster killed by two players has 110% of the experience points it would normally have, one killed by three has 120% and so on up to a maximum of 150%.

Re: New Item Reference Page
Tametomo, Thank you :-) By the way, I was referring to the regular (non-Dev) cap. I'm not sure how common it is, but I have seen several people in the town square wearing it. My recommendation would be to run a script over the player db to extract the item counts from all non-GM accounts and sum the...

Re: New Item Reference Page
Hi, now that the page is split up, can we have a `recent changes' page, please? The main reason for me to check this page is to see whether new items have been added or item properties have changed, and with multiple pages it now takes noticeably longer to dig through everything. Also, some of the r...

Re: TMW SVN installtion guide (Works on Ubuntu 8.04)
Hi,
no need to use `sudo' if you install libguichan into your ${HOME}. Also, it would be nice to also describe how to install it without doing a global install (as I attempted to do). Finally, I agree that this should go into the wiki.

Re: forest tileset
Crush, animated tiles aren't `better', they are `different' (the two techniques are strictly incomparable as neither subsumes the other). That being said, I agree that animated tiles are more generally applicable. I expect that underlays will become neccessary once you move on to the flying continen...

Re: forest tileset
Crush, No complaints about deciding against it, but I can't follow your reasoning. On (i): No-one asked for it to be drawn every frame. If there is no water around, don't draw it. Computing the bounds and doing partial crossblits is trivial. Furthermore, people can just turn this off and have the co...

Re: forest tileset
Hi, Regarding water tiles: another option would be to implement those as `reflective', as follows: (i) draw parts of a parallax background image (sky or ceiling) around all squares that will see tile updates (ii) draw all tiles, but make heavy use of transparency for water tiles. Should be easy to r...

Re: client ignore command for ubuntu/debian under 0.0.24.x
Ichigo, thank you for the correction! :-) (What I had in mind, though, was to forego an installation altogether.) Since I can't edit anymore, here is the full list again: (0) Ensure that you have all prerequisites (the ones I list here are the ones I have installed, you may be able to use similar pa...

Re: client ignore command for ubuntu/debian under 0.0.24.x
Hi, the `configure' step is not quite correct-- you should only run `./configure' once, most likely as `CXXFLAGS="-O3" ./configure --prefix=/usr' (to follow up on what you had earlier). Also, I forgot to mention that you have to regenerate the `configure' script. The `right' way to do that...

Re: Battle Skirt?
Superkoop, your observation is correct. I drew the two views differently based on the fact that the first one-- while initially more appealing-- looked very painful to the character in question when I tried to apply it to her. I suppose that the only way that sitting down could be plausible would be...

Re: command sugestion
Habari, Just to talk to someone, you can generally use `/whisper'. The potential for abuse for your initial proposal however is significant; not everybody wants everybody else to know where they are at all times. (Plus, this makes running away too easy.) A counter-proposal would be the `anchor' spel...

Re: Need idea's
Hi, how about some more dropable items that can either be sold/used as spell components or as components for new quests? Raw gems (emerald, sapphire, ruby, diamond (note the `a') in several sizes, cut gems in different sizes, copper and silver and gold ore, Shroom felt, Scorpion hide, ...? Some item...

Hi, Saphy, thank you very much for your sketches-- this makes good sense, and I will try to incorporate it into the next revision :-) Shaili, thank you for your help, though the sitting and lying image don't entirely agree with what I had in mind. Here is an early version of the sitting/lying images...
