If a player is attacks the centaur, then I think that she has to stand at a short distance, so it will look like the centaur will be aiming his attack at a spot behind the player.
Perhaps the centaur could aim at the players chest or maybe it could take one step backwards before attacking.

Just to satisfy my curiousity. How are botters usually discovered?
Is the GM wanred by a private message from a player, or do you have a some sort of server-site script that warns GM's about potential botters.

A by far better method to reduce botting would be to redesign levels and monster population in a way that it is no longer possible to play efficiently by just holding two keys. Would it help to change the spawning code so that monsters tried to spawn at a longer distance from the nearest player? If...

-When multiple characters helped with defeating another character everyone gets one KP and a copy of the stolen item to encourage teamplay. These PvP sounds like a really nice event, but if you make PvP permanent at some point in the future, then it will be tempting to create a mules and kill them ...

Just an idea: I tried decreasing the width of some of the boards, and I think that gives a slightly better 3D effect. The red line marks the width that has been decreased.
