Re: Usable TME/Aethyra content?

Seriously Crush, what kind of an attitude did you expect to see from us with the way you acted on IRC yesterday? The code and client is under GPL, as is your art, but that doesn't mean that our own original pieces have to be also. Have you ever heard of games like Planeshift? Or for that matter, by ...

Re: A New Cap

Hey, Di, if you will create the up, down, left, right, and death for that hat like Crush suggested, then I'll worry about the XML for you. However, I don't check here too often any more, so let me know in Blame's forum (http://216.139.126.36/forums/), when you get them, ok?

Re: New Item Reference Page

Wouldn't be necessary if it's already done somewhere else for all items. You would just need to cut and paste the content, and add to it as you like. Also, it's against what Crush said already, because wikis aren't supposed to be machine automated. Overall, if it's already done by the XSLT, then I d...

Re: New playerset's frames and animation

Ooookay guys, I was bored and decided to do some tweaking. Tell me what you think! :) I may even decide to do the sides and back too. Normal / with hat and shield: http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1794/swordattackdownut4.th.gif http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/9872/swordattackdown2zk9.th...

Re: New Item Reference Page

OK, You've got a point there. I just thought that that's what you and Bjørn were referring to. In that case, it would be nice to just link to items.xml later, where editors could just copy the content from there. There wouldn't need to be a link to it, and it could possibly be used as externa...

Re: New Item Reference Page

Maybe we could just format the contents of items.xml using XSLT . This wouldn't require any server-sided scripting because all modern web browsers can display XML files with XSLT rendering instructions. Bagh! I really should have thought of that. It's by far much easier to do than the current scrip...

Re: New Item Reference Page

So, perhaps, skip the links in the main text alltogether? I’m not really fond of having headers being links, as it looks visually disturbing to me. I think Crush’s template links will be enough. Only aesthetical though. I think the links in the headers are u...

Re: New Item Reference Page

Yeah, I didn't think that it was too obvious, and was trying to find a way to handle it better but still be as convenieny, which is why I really liked Crush's addition to the template, where it linked to them at the top.

Re: New Item Reference Page

:?: I also added the dates when the items were introduced into the svn as comments on the main page. Would this be interesting to have as its own column? (If so, I can do it for the subpages as well.) I don't think that the date the item was added to the svn has too much value. I mainly chose 6 mon...

Re: New Item Reference Page

It's funny that you'd suggest something like that, Crush, as I started simple, but the categories grew larger, as I found items that didn't quite fit. However, I like you're divisions a little better, as they can be scripted later. I'll update to that standard as soon as possible. Also, I didn't thi...

Re: New Item Reference Page

On account of what you said Fate, I changed the rule for exceedingly rare slightly and have changed the items that you mentioned. Thanks. Here's a new version: http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php?title=Item_reference&oldid=9538 . Right now, I'm concerned that the links are too subtle. Does an...

Re: New Item Reference Page

Sure. As for the items that you listed, what would you suggest for their rarity? As far as I know the cap hasn't ever been officially released or used, but the dev cap has been used a lot. EDIT: Here's a link to the new version: http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php?title=Item_reference&oldid=9...

Re: New Item Reference Page

OK, the page is now officially split up. You can see it at http://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php?title=Item_reference&oldid=9532 All pages now have the rarity listed for an item. This might open up a good sized can of worms, as there's plenty of players who would like to claim that certain item...

Re: TMWServ/Client Asynch Problem

... The global variables are a screaming example of what I (and thousands of others) would consider to be a classic case of bad/amature programming practices and poor design. In a well designed system, global variables are non existant. Especially since TMW's code is in C++, everything should be en...
