What release of Mac OS X are you running?

I'd like to get a feel of what you people out there are running.

If you are running more than one release of OS X please select which one you use the most.

No, an option will not be added for other architectures and/or operating systems. This is the Mac Development forum.

Once I've got "fixes" for compiling all dependencies under OS X I'll slap something together for the wiki. libxml2 is a pain, and I have yet to try physfs.

Compiling guichan-0.4.0 on Mac OS X

Just thought I'd share, although there's probably a better way to do it: ~/src/guichan-0.4.0$ cp /build/include/SDL/* ./include/guichan/sdl/ ~/src/guichan-0.4.0$ cp -Rp /build/include/SDL ./src/sdl/ ~/src/guichan-0.4.0$ ./configure --prefix=/build/ --enable-force-sdlimage --enable-force-sdl &&am...

What are you intending on using the database for, client or server?

If the source for the database software isn't modified, licensing doesn't matter (except that it's free).

PostgreSQL is under the GPL. MySQL is under the BSD license. Here's a nice comparison of the two: http://www.devx.com/dbzone/Article/20743 I'm a fan of MySQL, but that's only personal preference. I've yet to use postgre, so I can't speak on technical differences myself. I do love that BSD license, t...

Ahhh. I didn't know it was area/vicinity chatting. That changes everything I understood about the chatting method the game uses. Neevermind then :P

Bad idea. People could spam easier on irc and all. I just dont think irc and a game chat would work together. Also, wouldn't you be able to log into IRC and chat with players without actually being in the game? That sounds a little odd. You didn't fully read my first post on the idea :P: An ircd da...

To give you an idea what I'm talking about: Main | ------------- | | | Map Char Chat (ircd) When a player enters a new area (leaves town, goes to desert) their client will initiate the following commands: /leave #town /join #desert And now all messages they send and receive will be for that channel ...

Re: Chatting for the new TMW server

Well usually GM don't need to travel, they have GM commands to warp here and there. If those commands haven't been programmed into the new server, then this is how it could be done. A con is about the traffic generated by the server, we should evaluate it in some way, probably it would be better to...

Chatting for the new TMW server

I know that a server is being built for TMW from the ground up. Has it been considered how chatting will work? I have an interesting idea. An ircd daemon can be built into the new TMW server, or have a highly customised ircd that only accepts connections on localhost. When a player leaves area1 and ...
