The idea of a spell is great! Like darkice said, it would open up new spells, but it could could also add new status aliments like petrification. There should also be a way to petrify enemies other than using the spell, like your sword idea, just use it in a different quest!

That looks more like an crossbow bolt, no offense. Javelins don't have a large metal tip, or at least that big of on. Maybe you should try making a crossbow, that icon would be perfect for the ammo.
