Re: Arrrrrrghhhhhhh!!!!! Monster oil & server crap
Using ManaPlus client 1.1.8.21 on Debian Squeeze, and keep updated via Synaptic and apt-get. The software ought to be fairly up to date and stable. Starting think it is probably a problem with the service provider / home network. And no, not the network admin merely root of this computer. The networ...

Arrrrrrghhhhhhh!!!!! Monster oil & server crap
Getting tired of trying to make monster oil, then have server drop me while half through. I lose pearls, herbs, snake skins. While it may not seem much to some it becomes annoying having to A) gather this stuff up again, B) rely on my wife to have stuff on hand, C) go buy stuff, D) try to haggle/tra...

Re: Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
About your password issue: when there is really some vulnerability in the server which allows to hack accounts, how comes that there is no case of a gm, dev or administrator account being compromised yet? Why hack a common player and take their items when you could also hack a dev and create all th...

Re: Is a 99Dex/99Agi archer worth it?
Wow, range of 8 would rock! By the by, trying to move into being a tank next. Have one archer nearly all trained up. Really don't think a speed skill is worth it, jmho. "oh look at me, running all nakey in the desert with snakes!!!"

Re: Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
That is fine. I don't see how me stating the server keeps booting a player off, passwords reset is "baseless bitching" when it does happen. I don't see how stating an opinion that constant grinding in game for little to no reward in game is either. Nor do I see how that opinion would effec...

Re: Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
"The game loses players" is not an opinion. It's a statement. A statement can be either true or false. The truthfulness of your statement has been challenged by someone who is better informed about the facts than you are. Either provide evidence supporting your statement or revoke it. Als...

Re: Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
DariusBane, I don't know who told you that this game loses players. I think otherwise. Regards. No one told me. I am saying it is what I think. It is an opinion based upon observation. Anyone may think, or have an opinion as they choose. I am not saying who is correct or in error, only voicing my t...

Something for archers, maybe ...
Here is an idea regarding more content for archers. Establish elemental arrows. We could set up as many elements as the 'world' allowed. Each different element would have specific attributes. Example: Earth element would consist of stuff like dirt, trees and so on for each respective element. And ea...

Re: Can't connect to remote host
It's much more exciting to talk about how this might be the result of evil intruders though. :) Not everyone lives in irc. I said the server being hacked was a possibility. It is also possible the Invisible Purple Unicorn exists, too. Anything is possible. Common sense ought to clue a person in on ...

Re: Can't connect to remote host
http://www.greatfirewallofchina.org/index.php?siteurl=server.themanaworld.org Now we wait to see how old the backup is. Probably two days or more as evidenced via posts in the forum. And then you have to retrain your characters back up to current state, possibly lose items or gold. amarant24: "...

Re: Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
This was prompted because of frustration in the server constantly dumping a player out. Then when you try logging back in the server spits back, already logged in, or wrong password. Also frustration in not even being able to log in to begin with at times. Seems like the server is constantly 'unable...

Re: Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
Sorry to ask. Did I miss something? Are we getting ddos'ed again? (I was player first, and during a down time I decided to contribute&develop... so maybe that's their goal :-D) Circular argument, mate. Down time due to others being jerks only serves to cause desire to walk away completely. Why ...

Re: Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
The tmwAthena save file of passwords stores hashes, not plaintext ---Freeyorp Nice. But it still amounts to stealing nothing ultimately. I mean do you really need to steal fictional characters in a fictional world, that have no value save for being fun? That's just ridiculous. MD5 or SHA3 hashes? T...

Open Letter To Mana World Server Attackers
This is an open letter to anyone whom thinks about attacking the servers of Mana World. Please reconsider your actions. First of all attacking Mana World's server/s is plain stupid and counter productive. The game's source code is open source and available freely to anyone whom asks. You ask by down...
