Thank you and good luck
I have enjoyed playing Mana World for the past 3 years. For the last 18 months, I have enjoyed being able to use my sysadmin and organizational skills to give back a little to this wonderful project and its unique community of people. Over the past few months, I have reluctantly concluded that my id...

Re: I must go, my people don't really need me
I respect your decision, but none of this makes any sense to me. Especially where you said that "your opinion was alone and that by itself made it wrong". I don't see how a TMWC that goes unchallenged in their every decision would be any better. It's not that TMWC goes unchallenged; it's ...

Re: TMW Admin Role and Responsibilities
t3st3r summarized my thoughts very well. I have years of experience managing servers. This basically means evaluating risk vs. benefits for each change, communicating about changes, and coordinating what happens on the server. That includes platform changes, application software changes, content cha...

Re: TMW Admin Role and Responsibilities
Meh. This is silly. If you need such strict silly rules it is not going to work anyway. You need to be behind of the plans of the project anyway to work for it. Anything else is just nonsense. It's a job description. I guess those exist even in Germany. It says what the person is responsible for an...

TMW Admin Role and Responsibilities
I think that TMW leadership needs to have clarity and agreement about what responsibilities and authority go with each role. I'm posting this in public because I think that players should be part of the conversation. Because Freeyorp has been proposed to return as head TMW admin, I'll start with tha...

Re: Game Rules in Wiki
On Github, we get immediate notifications that "Person X made commit Y", which allows to react immediately. ...on wiki...is there a notification system, for at least those who would want to subscribe to a specific page changes? That's a very good point. You can add a wiki page to your &qu...

Re: Game Rules in Wiki
Back on Topic. I like them being part of the github webpages as then they can be better viewed and diff'd via version control The wiki has version control and diffs, and a nicer web interface than github. Compare this to...I don't know quite how to view changes on the github site. Maybe like this ?...

Re: Game Rules in Wiki
I think the game will be a better place if the rules are effectively communicated. I also think it serves nobody's interests if the rules are obfuscated or hard to find. So, whether it's web site or wiki (it could be both: official rules on web site and examples in the wiki), let's at least try to m...

Re: [BAN - pending investigation] mahouking
this situation seems quite strange to me....I for one experienced mahouking as a helpful and commited player. Since the other side of the story reads: yellow assassin gave his login data away claiming he wanted to leave the game (also not unheard of), it is not surprising that the logs tell... well...

Re: "Safe" GM commands?
It's not worth going into details about individual commands until we're going against the *actual* list. The wiki has a list of GM commands: https://wiki.themanaworld.org/index.php/GM_Commands It doesn't seem to have been updated. Where can we find a list of GM commands at this point in your rewrit...

"Safe" GM commands?
A TMWA dev recently raised the concern that some GM commands in TMWA might have bugs that are serious enough to crash the server itself. The command in question was @storage. Devs then investigated the code and determined that it doesn't have the ability to crash a TMWA server, but of course that le...

Re: [BAN - pending investigation] mahouking
I hesitated to post about this, because the GMs and I don't yet know the whole story. A misunderstanding can look much worse than it really is, and sometimes the drama affects someone's reputation long after the reasonable explanation is forgotten. We asked mahouking to explain his side of the situa...

Re: github pages
By "internal TMWA documentation," do you mean documentation about the server code? About content? When I've faced a lack of documentation about something, the problem is rarely a lack of some special formatting language. There's usually a communication problem, and often an underlying lack...
