Re: The official server flamewar topic
The contract that I expect to apply has already been posted above, the Regulations of Platinum Linux Non-profit Servers. It is not signed, but I am glad to hear that we do agree that electronic form is fine. I do not dispute that we have not yet reached consensus that this applies to the eathena@ ac...

Re: The official server flamewar topic
Oh dear. This was the sort of contamination I was hoping to avoid by not citing emotionally charged events. Would you consider taking a short break, so that we may be able to better review the evidence available to us later?

Re: The official server flamewar topic
Regarding the repeated requests for a written contract. While we've already seen that a court will consider the impact of a pair of adjacent emoji in a text message as evidence, you might be interested in some of the general rules surrounding validity of online evidence, and how broadly this is cons...

Re: The official server flamewar topic
Oh, I think I finally understand! By way of example, ircd@ was made directly by Platyna, so even though I was given shared access by similar special exception for account sharing, it would absolutely have been wrong to eg. copy ircd config and services registration database, because ircd account was...

Re: The official server flamewar topic
The agreement under which Platinum Linux Non-profit Servers then hosted the TMW Project can be found on [ the internet archive ]. Translated, the agreement reads: Using the server platinum.linux.pl means acceptance of the regulations. The user agrees to login any of his actions on the server. As wel...

Re: The official server flamewar topic
fundamentally I believe ownership of the Platinum data files (not the project, just the data files!) rests with Platyna Then we're back to [ observing that the data files were to go with Bjorn, with Platyna looking to make a fork of her own ]. You are the expert of sieving through the historical re...

Re: The official server flamewar topic
Ownership is, as was pointed out last time, the central impasse. Almost all of your other statements assume that Platyna was the owner, to varying extents. If you do have evidence for this, please do present it. While assertions are nice, in that they can help clarify a position, it's important to k...

Re: The official server flamewar topic
Indeed, some rights are inalienable, meaning you cannot even assign them away by contract. Unalienable rights are specific and jurisdiction dependent, so you'll need to provide more than an implication if you want others to evaluate or help with your claim. If the implication is that, if it is show...

Re: The official server flamewar topic
I don't think anything has changed since my [ last posts ] on the issue. With that said, one side was far more willing to make statements than the other at the time. If that has changed, or any new evidence has arisen, I could look into matters again. I haven't seen anything to that effect yet. ---F...

Re: Should username "TheManaWorld" be allowed for users?
This is what ranks and group colours are supposed to be for? I remember a similar brief discussion back when 4144 first showed up (41 44 4d 49 4e are the ascii characters for ADMIN) and I don't think anyone cares; in that case it eventually turned out to be oddly prophetic, perhaps "TheManaWorl...

Renamed from Qwerty Dragon to SudoPlatypus on the forums.
Renamed from QwertyDragon to SudoPlatypus on the wiki.
(There should really be a better place to archive/track such things... how long was wushin stuck with the skygen notice in their signature?)

Re: Char-serv Authentication failed
Please do not do anything that may affect uptime in production. tmwAthena is a very buggy mess. The snapshot taken was from eAthena when it was in the middle of a major refactoring, and for the longest time we weren't even able to troubleshoot the source in proper encoding. Now, the comments are en...

Re: [BAN] Temporary ban to protect map-server, 151 characters affected
Thank you for responding so quickly. I'm happy with this as an acknowledgment, and have lifted the IP ban. That's all, as far as my side of things are concerned, and I hope this hasn't affected much else for you in the meantime. It seems even a little bit of real world latency is enough to make for ...

[RESOLVED] [BAN] Temporary ban to protect map-server, 151 characters affected
Over the last few days the map server has suffered repeated oomkills due to the write queue of too many sockets becoming too big all at once. Typical incident: Dec 28 04:28:50 tmw tmwa-map[3968]: socket: 47 wdata expanded to 134217728 bytes. Dec 28 04:28:50 tmw tmwa-map[3968]: socket: 74 wdata expan...

Forums upgrade and migration 2018-03-18
The forums have been migrated from OVH to Azure, and have been upgraded from phpBB 3.0.14 to phpBB 3.2.2. We're temporarily running on the default theme until an updated theme is available. If there is anything apart from this that seems odd or in need of fixing, please let us know. Wiki, registrati...
