Re: Enforcing No Bots
In my mind anyway, it also just makes more sense to gain less experience grinding on the same mob for a long time. This might be a little bit of a morbid example, but here it goes... Lets say I have a ton of cats. I want to kill my cats (with my bare hands), but I do not have any experience in doing...

Re: phpbb3
Well, GravyTrain was kinda working on it, however, he did not disappear, but merely got bogged down with RL stuff. Seeing as I know him IRL, I will see if he has time to work on this again. Plus, he was trying to make changes earlier and some permission stuff kinda got borked, so I think he was wait...

Re: What ever happed to that?
Back on topic... What ever happened to map development? It has been a while since a new map has been created (aside from caves/dungeons) let alone added to the currently released content. I have seen initiatives for new maps in places like south of the eastern desert map, but that is about all that ...

Re: Magic Skill Icons
That would be awesome! That one definitely gets my vote. My only concern is, would that be too detailed of a picture for such a small icon? I guess that is why we pay the artists the big bucks. :) The only concern with using that would be that we would be taking Greek mythology into the game, which ...

Re: Magic Skill Icons
It isn't even determined yet if The Mana World is really a sphere. I understand that conceptually, we may not know the shape of TMW, however, I was thinking of symbols that make people think about nature. however, I see your point. It would definitely be confusing if the world of TMW was flat and w...

Re: How do you do pixil art?!
PNG is generally excepted around here as the default format. It offers decent compression with little loss. While I am not anything of a great pixel artist, I can see that your sample image there might need some more shading (to make things looks rounder, instead of flat) and should take the lightin...

Ideas for Earth: - Mountain - River bed - Planet Earth (viewed from space) Ideas for Metal: - Any type of Ore (iron ore, copper ore, etc.) - Sheet Metal Ideas for Healing: - Syringe - Bandage(s) - Pills - Blood (drop of blood maybe?) I also like the cross idea, but I would prefer to try to use somet...

Re: Quest NPC Indication
I think I agree Len. The scroll itself should stand out enough alone without indication to who it is indicating. Maybe a scroll isn't the best idea. Any suggestions for other objects to stick over an NPC to indicate they have a quest? The second half of this whole concept is whether or not the serve...

Re: Quest NPC Indication
Maybe I shoulda posted the original scroll(s) I was thinking of. http://drwahl.ath.cx/tmw/scrollv2.0gold.png http://drwahl.ath.cx/tmw/scrollv3.0.png http://drwahl.ath.cx/tmw/scroll2.png These, of course, are just suggestions (and items I had readily available). I thought about the generic golden &qu...

Quest NPC Indication
I thought it would be a good idea to mark in some what, when and which NPCs have quests for you. Using one of the scrolls I drew up earlier, I drew up a quick sketch of what I am thinking. http://drwahl.ath.cx/tmw/quest.npc.png I was not exactly sure about the arrow part pointing at the npc, and whe...

Re: How can I help?
On the main page (http://themanaworld.org), there is a link on the right to download the game. Once you follow that link, there are instructions on how to grab the SVN version, which will be the most recent version.

Re: Ok, now this is censorship
Drmgiver, do you not understand that once the 'gold release' as you put it, is released, everything will be wiped from the server? If you use the search function, you will find that this very topic has been discussed many times. You are not the first to complain about character progress being lost, ...

Re: Ok, now this is censorship
I think now would be a GREAT time to mention that the entire server is getting wiped once we get the TMWServ in place. All accounts will be lost. All progress will be lost (in terms of time spent in game).
What do you think about that Drmgiver?

Re: Ok, now this is censorship
*checks current version* It seems like we are running alpha (correct me if I'm wrong). You should not expect anything that you do in a piece of software that is in such an early state to retain any features that it may have. Also, if you like, you could start your own server and roll a character wit...

Re: We need wine and steak to dine!
Slightly off topic, but... If there is going to be a cooking profession (similar to WoW), the raw steak would be just fine as a drop off of some mobs, and then a cooked steak could be colored more brown and with grill marks on it, etc. I think that eventually we will need more than just steak and wi...
