Re: Alternatives to a "total wipe"

Platyna, So what if we cut the money and levels if players has large amounts of valuable items? Regards. If the items are uniques, then their value is determined by market prices only-- and after a money reset, the market prices will go down dramatically. So eliminating non-rares and leaving rares _...

Re: Alternatives to a "total wipe"

QOAL, Crush, I was just thinking a similar thing to Crush. Players levels get halved. Money is cut to small value, say 10k. We ask Peavey very nicely to fix the fast attack. Wrt levels and the fast attack I can see something along these lines working as a `reasonable' compromise (though it benefits ...

Re: Items/money/levels wipe.

Hi everyone, I would expect Sert's opinion to be typical of other players who have stuck with and heavily invested in this game (emotionally and time-wise) for an extended period of time. I consider such a wipe completely unnecessary. The excess money which is currently in the game can be dealt with...

Re: Items/money/levels wipe.

Hi Len, [*] Introduce some special items (e.g., gems) as rare drops that can be exchanged for special items with a `Stiltzkin' character (a trader who regularly changes locations, is frequently not around at all, and only has a finite supply of items-- perhaps even just three items that you can pick...

Re: Items/money/levels wipe.

Hi, FWIW, I don't mind a clean wipe, as long as it's fair and equal. Please let me add a couple of points in FAVOUR of a wipe: The game has never been `fair and balanced'. (Kind of like Fox News). Think of characters like Lore / Black Don / BibiBlocksberg / evadem who (to the best of my knowledge) l...

Re: Law and Order!

what about a jail map, or section that problematic players are sent to? They would have to pay a fine to a NPC in order to get out, if they can't pay the fine, they are forever exiled! It's probably not all that easy for a character in jail to make money... Still, in combination with the approach I...

Re: Law and Order!

Any automatic system which gives players power over other players just screams for being abused. You have to be very careful with something like that. Absolutely-- this is certainly no better and most likely worse than real life. Something like this cannot work without mechanisms that also take awa...

Law and Order!

Hello everyone, one issue that keeps coming up in the game is the `proper' way to deal with spammers, dropstealers, beggars, foreign language users and people who don't brush their teeth at least twice a day-- and, eventually, that discussion is likely to extend to player killers. The present `solut...

Re: not english...

Effectively, yes. The areas should not, however, be duplicates of some template area with only different names, but rather individual and distinct.

Re: not english...

Right now the rules imply that English is the canonical language of TMW. While that is certainly a reasonable premise, it wastes some potential for the game that might otherwise be exploited to (a) make the game more challenging (in the positive sense of that word), (b) turn it into an actual learni...
