That "cop" analogy for GMs doesn't fit. It would be better to compare them to bouncers at a club. When you misbehave towards other guests, they throw you out and won't let you in anymore.

Some of you seem to misinterpret that article. It is not so much about policing MMOs but more about how to develop and design them.

You are suggesting an awful lot of work for improving the game experience of people who aren't supposed to be in the game anymore.

GPL and AGPL are incompatible. You can't take a work licensed under GPL and turn it into a AGPL project. So when you want an AGPL client- or server you need to rewrite from scratch. Unless, of course, you get the permission from all past contributors (and you won't get mine).
