The problem in rolling release distributions lies in you having to constantly reconfigure stuff due to configuration file syntax changes. Not really... maybe when a package update is a major one, but I doubt, I never had to touch anything, not even for the kernel. Just recompile it, and that's done...

Also I think the blink function would be pretty easy. Just make dissappear the bar, and make it reappear in a second, doing this while the HP is below the 10%.

Could it be implemented? I, as a novice, get killed soon or later and even without noticing.
Also a sound could help, like once in 2 seconds a heart beat sound or something

That's why I prefer rolling release. Easier for everyone. For example: I run Archlinux, which is rolling release. and then type "pacman -S tmw" on a terminal or vc and it'll get installing the lastest version on the repositories. Thanks to ABS (Arch Build System), you can make a simple PKG...

Why not other BBS? A phpBB may be OK for a community that needs to modify code to base it's system and so, but for a game development and discussion, I think it's too much. Never thought of porting the DB to another "format" and use a different BBS? I do think phpBB is kinda bloated. PunBB...
