Re: Hardcore server
I had something else in mind for starting the hardcore "quest" to try and tie it in to the lore of the Mana World. My idea was that the Soul Menhirs work by saving some of the person's mana so that they could be re-created after death. The player would talk to an NPC who has found a way to...

Re: Hardcore server
I thought of an idea the other day how to implement this without making it a server-wide setting. Have a quest that has the effect of permanently setting a player's respawn location to an unreachable map where no one can come or go by any way except death (think of it as the afterlife). Of course, a...

Re: The official server-move flamewar topic
To prove this point go online and find one name you don't know and ask them about the drama. If they aren't an alt, they couldn't care less unless the content stops coming. I'd guarantee you're right about players not caring, but I don't think this proves your point. It's a catch 22 of sorts; they'...

Re: The official server-move flamewar topic
It seems like everyone is extremely eager to keep things going as they are now. Why don't we keep doing this from now on? Spamming, flaming, and DDoSing could be incorporated into the game. For example, there could be a daily quest where you have to insult "Platyna" and "o11c" NP...

Re: Digging up dirty facts about server move and the takeove
I'm not disputing what happened and what did not happen. I wasn't involved in most of the things being referenced and it's useless for me to get into an argument knowing nothing about it. The things I know enough about and feel are worth discussion, I've discussed, but I don't think a mutual agreeme...

Re: Digging up dirty facts about server move and the takeove
Well, I don't think it's fair to totally dismiss the reliability aspect... My point is Platyna was not willfully malicious with the data, therefore the players (not the characters) were not at risk, and therefore she should is entitled to her copy of the data. I'm not arguing about the reasons for ...

Re: Digging up dirty facts about server move and the takeove
Read my (large) post again. It was under constant risk. I disagree with your definition of risk in this context. A risk of data loss, possibly. I'm speaking of a risk of malicious use. If Platyna lost the data by her own action, there would have been no foul play by the TMWC and I wouldn't have any...

Re: Digging up dirty facts about server move and the takeove
We've been over this dozens of times... I've yet to see this discussion. It's possible that I've missed something somewhere. I don't think that makes sense though; my character data was from an older date than when the move occurred. The forums, wiki, etc. also are missing a few days of information...

Re: Digging up dirty facts about server move and the takeove
I don't have a problem with any of this. The GHP did not do a good job managing things in many cases. The TMWC has made plenty of mistakes as well. If you want to bicker and argue about who is comparably worse, have at it. My problem is very basic and has been completely ignored up until now. I real...

Re: Dear TMW Community.
...The Mana World was running under a shared 'eathena' account and nobody ever gave you sole ownership of the data stored or generated under that account... So she is part owner then, and has equal say in all matters regarding the save data as per my post http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Dear TMW Community.
not sure you can call platyna a co author. only thing she did is provide a machine. she never wrote anything for tmw. That would be for the courts to decide. My point is, is it willing to risk the future of the game over what a court system defines an "author?" If no one is going to put f...

Re: Dear TMW Community.
Bear in mind that if this becomes a legal complaint, it's going to be filed in Poland, not the USA. I'm not a lawyer, but since there are no lawyers here, I suppose my opinion is just as valid. The save data is not covered by the GPL. The GPL version 2.0 is used throughout the source code (version 3...

[Edit] I'm going to redact this post. I wrote it without knowing some of the other things that had and are currently happening and this thread has no room for such ignorance.
