I think the farming town to the north would be the best starting location from the geographical point of view because it is possible to design the area so that the only way out of it leads through the trade city. I guess that's not a horrible idea, but I don't think the farming town is any more sui...

i like the idea of the trade city to be split up in to parts. I think if we're going to split it up, we should do it in quadrants and maybe call them districts. East and west can be separated by a river or stream, while the north and south can be separated by the highway that runs through the city....

"Tudor"; I like this suggestion. * size (of the maps) * elevation (type of topography) * type of plants and animals ... *Map size is currently being discussed. *Elevation is tricky, since it's a 2d environment. It's hard to fit something like a sloping hillside in to a tileset, so those so...

The World Needs Tilesets

The purpose of this thread is to decide upon visual traits for tilesets. Please do not post actual progress for tilesets here. I'm going to attempt to arrange this by continent. We can start by focusing on one continent and expand as our progress dictates. If you have a question like, "Where's ...

From the game "Sword of Mana" http://secretofmana.planets.gamespy.com/images/swordofmana.gif As difficult as it would be to manage scenery like this, it would be neat. I suppose the scenery in this image could still be crammed in to a tileset, it'd just be useless for anything but an arena...

But it would be unfair to the Stendhal guys when I would not mention that this screenshot is quite old. That's a good point. Something else that's relevant to the end of this discussion, is that the basic goal of the Arianne/Marauroa project is similar to TMW's; something free, designed by voluntee...

Stendhal - http://arianne.sourceforge.net/?arianne_url=content/screenshots#stendhal  one of the things that I removed from my last post before submitting it, was a line that read: "Ignoring graphical consistency is how we end up with cruddy game-worlds like Stendhal and most of the Graal ...

What is the unified theme of Mana World's art intended to be? What makes it uniquely Mana World, instead of %insert name of existing CRPG/MMORPG here% ? It's ridiculous that this (..interestingly worded :? ) question turned in to such a quote-slinging argument. Okay. I won't worry about fitting int...

8) super cool.

I think what Crush means, is that the texture for the broken fountain piece looks too photo-realistic.

..keep up the good work. :D

I apologize for the crudeness of this sketch.

That's what I meant about having a hole in the middle, where the top has caved in to the sewers. Players could enter through the big crack in the side.

Good job on the fountain. :D If you ever feel like expanding on it, you could make a version that is dried and cracked. It could have a hole in the middle, perhaps where the fountain attachment has fallen through; in the propoer setting, a ruined fountain could be an entrance to a lower area, such a...

So the weekend lapsed with no apparent meeting regarding content. I'm not sure if anyone else was informed, but Pauan has decided to leave the project for an indefinite amount of time; I don't know the reasons. Whatever the case, he was the person I was bouncing ideas off of, in an effort to have mo...

I have been speaking with my cousin about the possibility of joining the team, to help manage among other things, the workflow and group communication. I hope that we can figure out a good time to schedule some Q&A time on IRC or something. I'm trying to run out the door at the moment though, so...
