Re: Unknown Char-Server Failure
Can someone explain what the problem is? Plenty of people use dynamic IP addresses, and are able to play the game. Also, what is the security concern? As far as I know, the Linux network stack properly handles most TCP/IP level situations, including reassembling fragments, maintaining state, process...

Re: Unknown Char-Server Failure
I think it's necessary to understand why people cannot connect to the game.
If someone can duplicate the problem, contact me and I'll watch network traffic at the server. We can probably find out where the problem is happening, which would be a useful step towards identifying the cause.

Re: Should Mana+ be allowed to hide important server message
I as a player always read the news when it *changes*, and look at it long enough to notice whether it changed. If we keep the login message relevant to people, most will read it, or -- as you say -- at least look if it changed. If we don't make the login message relevant to people, most will not re...

Re: Should Mana+ be allowed to hide important server message
Currently, the "important" login message reads: ##32013-10-30##0 Happy Halloween! Also, some minor bugs have been fixed with Waric and Rossy. Alas poor Waric, Will he ever learn to behave properly? -##2MadCamel##0 ##32013-09-28##0 As you might have found out we had another restart yesterda...

Game Rules in Wiki
Should we explain the game rules in the TMW wiki?
Currently, that page says

I found this previous version to be more helpful, but I'm curious what others think. The wiki is not the place to list game rules. The canonical game rules are the ones shown in-game, as available in the git repository.

What do you pay for someone to help you "by accident"?

Does this new testing server do what you want?
If not, please explain what you prefer instead.

Re: night and day
I can think of a few ways that day/night light/dark could have effects. It could be a simple graphics/mood change (like some overlay on the client). The graphics examples in the previous thread look really neat! It could be the graphical overlay plus a change in music. It could affect strength or sp...

Yes, the server crashed again. Thanks for reporting it!
I restarted it about 40 minutes after your report.

Re: New Quest Idea
What about a "quest mode" where drops count towards the total, instead of having people just raid the cupboard? Maybe make this a per-character toggle with the NPC that tracks the leaderboard.

Re: Public Test Server
I must admit I'm confused here. In the past, I've set up a [ testing server ] off the same login-server for testing. Accounts were periodically copied across, and people seemed happy with that at the time. GM levels are handled by the login-server. If we run a testing server off the same login-serv...
