Usually -O2 runs faster due to smaller usage of CPU pipelines due to not trying to overoptimize for the last bit. Yes, for the dev server any sort of a even horribly broken, incomplete and/or mangled up playerset can go in at any point. That kind of happy experimentation and instant preview of your work and results is the very point of the server in fact.

Make no mistake, I like what I am seeing too.

Taking this the next step further will be to add decals and variation tiles so not all cliff faces are straight cut walls: 3d shape, organic shapes.
