The Mana World RPM's

I build a few RPM's for TMW :) (not tmw has packages for most major package formats). PhysFS RPM's are available at various locations on the net (i haven't made a RPM for that). Guichan RPM: http://satgnu.org/nym/guichan/guichan-0.4.0-1.i386.rpm The Mana World RPM: http://satgnu.org/nym/tmw/tmw-0.0....

I agree that towns should be PVP free zones, and everywhere else PVP enabled. This allows people to play as 'bad' characters, this said, there should also be penalties for PK'ing (something which deters most (nearly all) people). 8)

Ooh, looks alot better :)

Btw, that isn't a shadow.. its the other wall (which would cover up a player if they were to stand too close, hence the 'transparency')... And i thought i had a bad imagination... :P

Some people dont really like the desert setting and are working on a forest/greenery tileset.. And i made a little something to go along with it (the shadows aren't part of the tiles.. they are just their for visual stimulation :)) http://home.ripway.com/2004-7/146475/mushroomtest.png A giant mushro...

Just running ./configure doesn't install Guichan -- its only sets up makefiles etc. so you can compile it nicely on your system. To build guichan, you will need to run (after doing ./configure): make Then (as root): make install This is the standard source build procedure used in most source package...

Hmmm, nice :)

Maybe you should think about contributing the BrowserBox to Guichan also. As it is possibly quite a useful widget (and Guichan doesn't really have a large set of widgets). :)

Hmmmmm, what about an in game help system? It could be accessed via a button in the status window or something. Using the in game help system people can easily access it while playing the game :)

You may also want to note that pretty much all massively scalable MMO network engines use a customized protocol based on UDP. The reason for this is because: TCP has some redundancy when used with IP and that it has features which aren't used in a game. By implementing a custom protocol based on top...

If you are interested in looking at Squirrel, check out squirrel.sf.net . I have worked a little on the scripting system and currently here is what an item script will look like (this is still in the design/testing phase, so it will most likely change a bit). // Define required variables name <- &qu...

It seems you dont have the necessary libraries needed for OpenGL. You should download official drivers for your video card (or if you dont have a accelerated video card, get Mesa3d). The driver should also include the libraries needed to get OpenGL up and running (also, to get OpenGL acceleration in...
