Today the TMWC would like to annouce that TMW has become an associate project of SPI. SPI helps Open Source projects by offering legal services such as; Accepting Donations, Holding Property and Legal Assistance. SPI makes us part of a Non-Profit, so in the US TMW is now tax shelter or tax write off for businesses donating hardware or services. TMW now has access to legal assistance in case some company tries to infringe on some of our software rights. As DCMA & Patent Trolls always be a foot. TMW is now an Open Source Non-Profit Project. :D

See our project page here.

This is a bigger "Yay" than you'd think.Individuals and companies in the USA can now contribute financially to TMW for essentially free. It no longer has to be funded entirely out of the administration's pockets... We can have sponsors!

The main benefit right now is that TMW can find hosting for free. Any company willing to take on some DDoS attacks can host TMW without having to pay out of their own pocket. Hopefully this will give TMW freedom to choose it's host as it sees fit rather than being stuck with anyone in particular (Past incidents come to mind).

But also.. If you have a really cool boss (or are your own boss) consider sponsoring TMW :) As a non-profit TMW is obligated to use such funding for the betterment of the community and world as a whole. Want to fund some pixel art boobs? Go for it. Won't cost you a dime in the end. Just deduct the amount from what you owe the IRS.
