The way you described counts for categorizing template documentations but we should also categorize the templates themselves ;)
And yeah, we should definitely create a /doc page for each template or at least for every template that needs a bit of explanation.
Feel free to do so with the Template:i18n, I didn't do so yet since I'm focussed on categories right now.

Altus Institute wrote:see:
template :branding (if we put in category in this template, the category will appear on the main page = disgusting)
so :
create a template: branding/doc (and include the category[+some info] here to find the template easly)
Nope, that's why the category for a template itself e.g. looks like this: <noinclude>[[Category:General Template]]</noinclude>
This way the template itself is in the "General Template" category, but not pages using the template.

For templates categories I see you already noticed my new sandbox page (btw please use "~~~~" or "--~~~~" in talk pages so we know who wrote which post, see here ;) ), I'm currently thinking about:
  • Templates shortcut
  • General templates
  • Templates for player pages
  • Templates for dev pages
  • Templates for translators
Maybe also others, that was just a quick idea.
But I'm also trying to KISS = Keep It Short and Simple :D
Altus Institute wrote: but something to ask,
this will be for soon or not?
because if you give a new overview, helpers will need to put it in all page.
I mean its the same for {{Template:Metakey}}{{Template:Metadesc}}{{Category_playerinfo}}{{Status_green}}ty
I think you misunderstood, you already found that overview :D
Like I said it's a main page, like our general or dev main page, not a template.

Edit: Oh, and thanks for your suggestions in the talk page :alt-3:

Another issue:

Trying to update https://www.themanaworld.org/index.php/ ... e:Metadesc (and Metakey) so they have translations doesn't really work.

The source will look like this:

Code: Select all

<meta name="description" content="{{#switch: {{NAMESPACE}}&#10; | De = The Mana World ist ein 100% Open Source MMORPG &amp; kostenlos spielbares Spiel für Linux, MacOS X und Windows&#10; | #default = The Mana World is a 100% Open Source MMORPG &amp; Free-to-play game for Linux, MacOS X and Windows&#10;}}&#10;" />
Shall we leave it like this or is there a way to fix it with the "{{#switch: {{NAMESPACE}}" trick?
Otherwise we would have to recreate this template for each language.

I made the metadesc templates in German and Chinese temporarily. If there's a solution, we can make a #REDIRECT on the multi-language templates and switch them to the original one one by one :)

In the "Game Rules" wiki page there was only a text that the wiki isn't the place to list those and a link to the git page... I added back the game rules for the english page.
I updated Spanish translation of game rules (Es: Game Rules).

BTW, I created a pull request improving Spanish translation of game rules:

Morgan now has a NPC bio page of sorts. A few details are missing but they will get filled in as time goes.

I want to thank Bock and Altus Institute for their Wand and Morgan uploads.

It has taken me quite a few edits just to learn how easy the new web styles are.

Added a bit more to the Spells page, defeating the red links 1 at a time.
Cheers :)

Having a little request. Some of you already noticed that in the past 2 months I editted over 1,000 pages giving the wiki a better structure, or a structure at all
Most of these edits were to create templates and categories for each item type, e.g. Useable Items or Charms (note their "See also" section), making it easier to group them, find them and navigate through our wiki and also add documentations and descriptions so new wiki contributors have it easier to look things up (example).

Well and to make those pages have the same structure: Item sample page
For items everything is set up now, we just need to update older item pages according to the new item sample page.
Please help with this: all item pages which need an update are listed in the table on this page (5th line, "status" column).
You're already a nice help when you only updated one of these pages.

Thank you very much in advance :alt-3:

It's actually pretty nice practise for beginners also.

Wiki Updating

Please post your remarks and requests about wiki here.
Please keep in mind that editing the wiki is one of the easiest ways to help this project, and a good way to know it better. They will greatly appreciate your help and feedback.
If you don't, just think that the free contributors time is limited to a maximum of 24h per day in the best case.

Updating the GM Command list would be useful.
I might end up doing this myself...
