Cannot get new 4144 to run in Windows.

I just downloaded the latest 4144 and installed it in Win XP. I tried to start it from the regular shortcut and from the no opengl shortcut and neither work.

I tried uninstalling completely and doing a fresh install with the same result.

When you run either shortcut, you see what looks like a blank terminal window open for about 1.5 seconds and then it just disappears. Nothing else happens. I see it show up briefly in the list of running processes in a task manager but then it disappears.

Any ideas how to get this running again?

The problem only started once 4144 started using the Mana clients source.
I had tried the Mana client on the same computer and had received the same result as i did with the 4144 patch.

As you (should) know the TMW development team doesn't offer support for 3rd party clients.

Can you post the report file it should be making? There should be a .rpt file in the install directory.

If you try run game again it not starting?
And client version you installed?

Also try find mana.rpt or manaplus.rpt in game folder and show what file file contains.
By default located in c:\program files\manaplus.

To avoid crash try delete file: D:\Program Files\Mana\data\graphics\images\login_wallpaper.png
And try start game again.

It will start in safe mode and you should change resolution, enable opengl if needed, etc.

You must download updates or copy it from tmw udpates folder, event if you have bad connection to server with updates, without game will not work normally.

I tried downloading several things, but couldn't quite figure out what to download to get things to work right, including getting all my custom settings and outfits to come back.

So, after working at this for quite awhile I found out where all my various files were stored on my Ubuntu laptop and copied them over to the Windows computer. After couple of false starts everything appears to be running ok now and all my settings are back.
