Economic parallels can be found in the real world. Governments face the same problems of inflation & devaluation. Some of their solutions:

1) inheritance tax (anything above some number gets taxed at 50%)
stops you from hiding money with your kids

2) networth tax (anything above some other number gets taxed)
robinhood

3) sales tax (transactional fees to stop people skirting around 1 & 2)
stops you from selling from buying from your kids items at an inflated value

There are plenty of other strategies but their key goals are to keep money circulating.

IMO the money sinks aren't working. Players are buying up rares for a GP wipe and they can turn around and sell them later to get all that back. I say wipe the GP and anything from events older than a year ago. If they want to do a full wipe, everything gone...so be it...I would support that as well.

As for me, I have right now 28,000gp...because I don't sell everything I get. I donated what I could to the Dyer but most of the time I hand the more expensive and hard to get items over to new players who can use them. Why sell a pair of boots for 500gp when I can go hand them to someone still running around in a cotton shirt and shorts? I would have apperciated that when I first started the game...trying to encourage others to STAY with the game and not get frustrated and leave.

The summer has ended and the Dyer sink has failed. Let the wipe commence.

The few with all of the cheated money don't give a damn about the game, their virtual assets, or the honest players.

The new players have nothing to lose.

The developers are too busy making the real world a better place in which to live.

The long time players who actually enjoy the community, knowing it will all go away when it blossoms into 0.1.x but continue to play the game in earnest, they will have the broken hearts.

But, I may be wrong. I'll admit that.

Booth, you are part of the reason that there will need to be a wipe. You and pickpocket have both admitted to having multiple character that are hording money, rares and casino coins. You were here when the casino bug money was being given away and used to buy rares at inflated prices. Instead of putting your money into the sinks like all of the honest and hard working people did that care about the game, you only thought about yourself and building up money. You have ridiculed me and others that tried to make the game and system work by giving away virtually all of stuff to the sinks. When you and others like you have given away over 95% of your wealth in order to get the game and system to work, then you will have the respect of others again, until then you will be nothing but gang types sitting on the side trying to exploit for your own gain. Before you even think about trying to turn this back around on me, remember, I was one of the 10 richest on the game and now am one of the poorest for my length of play. Even though I have been fighting against the wipe, because I believe that the wipe will hurt the honest and dedicated players the most, I am starting to believe in it, after hearing you and pickpocket and others sit around talking about ways that you are hording your wealth by creating casino coin holding characters and having 50+ characters to hide the gold and etc. Whatever happen to having a game for people that want to relax in a NICE fantasy world, if I want to deal with hackers and thieves and liars like you two, I would stay at work.
