This forum houses many years of development, tracing back to some of the earliest posts that exist on the board.

Its current use is for the continued development of the server and game it has always served: TMW Classic.

Shopping Center

Being that so many people are setting up shops, why not give them a specific place they can have their shop? Could be a large open map. I'd be willing to do the mapping if the project was approved.

i like the idea if its done well. maybe setup a portal to a basement under the General Store

By "setting up shops" I assume you mean 4144's shop feature.

Since this client is unsupported, we should not create special areas for the use of its features.

There was some talk of making it the recommended client, which I don't agree with - some features perhaps - but that is undecided.

still... it could be useful to have a player market type area. at least you wouldnt have to put up with 'selling ...' or 'buying...!' in town

I doubt that this will find acceptance in the player community.

When you want to sell something you want to be seen by as many people as possible. So you position yourself in a high traffic area.

Going to a dedicated trading place away from the main traffic center would be counter-productive because it reduces exposure to potential customers.

I have seen games with places marketed as dedicated trade areas. Usually these were deserted while everyone who wanted to sell something gathered around the spawn points and other high-traffic areas.

The only place it would even remotely work is near Hurns.
BC's idea of it "under" the general store would work, but more realistically edit a market place outside the south of town. You could do it to the north but I don't think the bank is going to foreclose on Hinnak anytime soon.

I hear Hinnak has fallen on hard times.

Also, I could add one outside of Hurns. Little flat area with some benches or something.

this ideas interesting. i wouldnt mind seeing a shopping map on tmw. people dont have to use the 4144 client ench. they can spam like they do in town 8) it would be nice to see a little place for sellers and buyers.

You can't tell people where to buy/sell things; they'll always go for the high traffic areas (usually spawnpoints).
