Yeah in my opinion they look better, and well done on the rocks as well

i'm quite stuck with the straw roof. i tried some things but nothing looked right.

has anyone an example for a pixel art straw roof in orthogonal perspective? i found some straw roofs in game graphics in isometric perspective but none in orthogonal perspective.

what part of that tileset is supposed to be the straw roof? that thing left to the weapons in the upper right corner?

come on, there has to be someone who has pixeled a better straw roof once.

Yea, that roof is just... well... bad. It doesn't look like straw at all.
I really love the cliffs on that tileset though. :D

i finally found something:

according to the description on the site i found it its from lufia. thanks to the folks from the rpgmaker community who shamelessly rip every tileset for every 2d rpg ever made.

Edit: Anotherone but i don't really like that one:

Crush, that's a nice start, but I would like to see a bigger base of stones so it stands out more to the outside, like this:

what do you think about that roof:

Well... it looks more like the straw ElvenProgrammer presented then the good straw roofs you found. It looks like two coloured noise rather then a straw roof. There's not direction or depth.

What I noticed mostly as a nice effect in straw is using different level of shading, just look at the sword of mana screenshot or the first tileset you posted. The roofs seems to be created by the superposition of different layers of straw, everyone with a different color or at least it differs from the other layers.

the technique used on that screenshot looks good on a complete object but doesn't work when the object should be size variable (and i want it to be)
how about that?

(gotta do something about the upper edge)

..and about the lower edge too, it looks so flat at the moment. About the rest you got my suggestion right, now it's only a matter of creating a better straw texture.
