I like the "patches of straw" approach:

PS: I know it's a wall...

..and about the lower edge too, it looks so flat at the moment. About the rest you got my suggestion right, now it's only a matter of creating a better straw texture.
Yeah, I think the side of the straw (the part hanging over the walls) needs to be a bit thicker.
And a shadow might help. :)

what do you think about that approach? do you want me to do it like that? i would prefer the more "fluffy" look from lufia.

I agree with the fluffy look but this texture looks way better when compared to yours, as Modanung said it looks more like noise, you should give it some vertical alignement I think.

Good ol' Mac&Blue forest set. I have used this chipset many o' times. :D
I probably shouldn't have though, it's like the most overused rm2k chipset ever. lol.

I still can't see a nice straw texture, I know it's hard but this one is not satisfying me. You could maybe go on with other parts first and then come back to improve it.

This is happening in the reverse order, but I just spotted something from the IRC channel by Pajarico:

Nice... for an outhouse. XD

Am I detecting a polynesian influence? :D

the architecture looks interesting but it looks so narrow. it would be very uncomfortable to live in a house like that.

Well it is a CONCEPT piece, you don't have to pixellate it 1:1, IMHO.. ;)

I think our pixellation process would be a lot faster if we had more of these conceptual pieces defining stuff for people. *hinthint*

I like it.
Remember we're not building a city here, it's a forest village.
It reminds me of some Norwegian cottages. Stirdy big pole constructions, set on huge rocks. Which makes me think... maye we could just have the roof covered with soil and living grass/moss.
