IMPORTANT! Issues with stat reballancing.
I think it is important that we halt content implementation. Just to be clear on this, implementation and production are two different things. It has been said that with many new things added to tmw it is hard to keep up when trying to re-balance the whole game so that everyone might have fun experiencing The Mana World. Re-balancing is more important than content at the moment. We have developed well over enough content to be satisfying for some time. IMO stats being rebalanced for armor and monsters should be a priority before any new content is implemented. Freeyorp and/or others can not continue Freeyorps work on this if we do not halt content. Please if you want to discuss this do it through irc.themanaworld.org on #tmw-dev channel. This thread is meant to get our development teams attention and should be discussed.

Re: IMPORTANT! Issues with stat reballancing.
There is some interest in beginning balance soon from several developers.
Here is the timeline:
Pre-Easter Release (Soon)
Easter April 15th-30th
Graveyard Inn Release May 1st
Balance
There may be some content that people will work on in this period, but the server-data db files will largely be "under construction" as will the items.xml and monsters.xml in the client data. For skills and/or magic, this will have to be discussed with Argul on what is desired to balance.
Balance can begin shortly after the Pre-Easter release, as the db files will not need updates after this.

Re: IMPORTANT! Issues with stat reballancing.
FYI, Balance can now begin with the db and conf directories of eathena-data, eathena source, items/monsters.xml in tmwdata.
We'll attempt to keep communication with the balance project team to avoid creating merge conflicts as we keep preparing content during this period.
After the Graveyard Inn, all content releases will halt completely so the balance project team can begin any deeper alterations.
Following balance, we hope to release the crypt and reaper quest to celebrate its completion and begin working more deeply on the Kaizei barbarians, the town of Thermin and other releases that are a Work in Progress.

Re: IMPORTANT! Issues with stat reballancing.
Would anyone be against this remaking tulimshar, and some NPC dialog to make archery, Warriors, Mages more apparent from the beginning of the game? Also keep in mind that none of this process will be a very quick one. Please use this thread to comment under http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 13&t=12648

We should consider the way that mobs in specific area effect game play. http://forums.themanaworld.org/viewtopi ... 13&t=12649
Re: IMPORTANT! Issues with stat reballancing.
We are starting the reorganization of our databases in the server data and related client data.
First order of business is a discussion on how to organize the item_db.txt.
We could group by 1000s to match our new item directory (i.e. 1000s for generic, 2000s for weapons, 3000s for chest, etc.)
Issues...the dyeables and equipment tiers. Also, despite not wanting to add more to the list of dyeable colors, I'm opening up the idea of: more colors and double dyeing (two color recolorables). If we add to our features, we may have to increase the amount of db entries in the hundreds. If there is a reasonable middle ground we can think about it. I want no increase in color, no two color dyeing and space for 10 levels of equipment tiers per equipment item that is participating in the system. 11 colors * 10 equipment tiers = 110 slots per equipment.
These changes will have to be connected with an effort to ensure players don't lose character items/equipment when this is implemented, so we'll also either create a branch of our data repo or use the "cache" for the balance effort.
FYI: This is now the priority project for official TMW-eA, to be completed before and/or in between new large content release projects, though work on Thermin, the Crypt and the Logging Camp are still on-going, we won't add additional big projects on the official roster until balance is complete.
