I think we need to prevent players from logging out quickly right before they die and log back in after a while to have full health. So offline healing should only happen in safe areas, like towns.

That's interesting, I didn't think like this when I posted. That's a good idea. This will make real time system looks more "real".

I think Modanung's idea is great.

Code: Select all

System.out.println("Java Developer");
echo 'Powered by Debian GNU/Linux'

I was going to say and vote that we should only heal when online, but well, Modanung's idea is good. Healing when offline only when you're in town is nice. Though that's a bit more work on the server to be done, and then more load on the server.

The server only needs to register the time you log out and when you log in again it calculates the time that has passed and with it the recovered HP in that time if the player is in a safe zone. I don't think that a lot of work for the server.

Or it could just be done in an even simpler fashion: If a player has been logged out in a safe zone for more than an hour, he gets fully healed.
This message used to be meaningful.

Yea, but what if the player wasn't logged out long enough to be fully healed. Then he should be partially healed instead of not at all.

maybe we could take it one step further....

if/when we get the real estate system in order, you would only heal if you were in your house (or whatever property). this would incourage players to log out in their own homes and makes for easier loading when they log in next time.

on some of the MMORPGs that i have played, logging on is a pain in the rump due to tons of people just sitting around the spawn point (or any point in town for that matter) saying "BUY MY STUFF!".

That's interesting too. maybe we can mix Dr Wahl and Modanung ideas. I agree with Dr Wahl, would be nice make playes loggout on theyr houses or anyother safe place to don't disturb the spawn point. What i think is: You will just have an offline heal in towns but there will not be monsters in towns because if we have noob monsters for begginers in towns they will not find many to kill, cause all players will be loging in and disturbing the spwan. So the offline heal should be in your house or town. And we will need a begginers place. ( Saying this cause today we have noob monsters in town, i don't know if we gonna have this in future. )

Offline heals ...

Think of this, while your in a dungeon, your heavily damamged by a.... SNAKE
you kill that snake, and log off, come back and kill another after a while

This is one hell of a cheap way to level. If your hurt, go see a healer NPC or find a potion. OR sit down and rest a bit.

Ragnarok uses the Sit/Stand heal

While sitting, you heal 10% faster than you would standing AFK

I'm thinking like you here Bear. I also suggested a Sleep function in some other thread.

Offline healing open a gate to PK abuse and therefore to ruin planned game play. For example: I met on a PK map an opponent, with comparable might, he almost beaten me up, so, I am, with like 5 percent of life logging off, he can't reach me. Not fair.

Regards.

If this system will allow fleeing it is still flawed. One can flee and log off.
