LORE FOR SOUL MENHIR

Post by newstravelsfast »

:alt-3: Soul Menhir

It was said that long before the Great Quake the Elder Gispaans found a stone at the root of the world which had mana naturally imbued into its veins, and that they used their own technology to harness the energy within for the greater good of all. The Gispaans placed pieces of these special stones, (Now called “Soul Mehnirs” because of a translation) ,Throughout the world in different places in case of extreme emergency and that they must be used to save their beloved race. But in the end it could not save them all from the power unleashed by the gods. So the stones were left to rest until many many years later.
Approximately 243 years after the great quake all of the ancient civilizations and beings have died off except for the humans,(but a few specimens have been preserved and can be viewed in Tulishmar at the Great Magic Academy and Hall), And The soul menhirs were excavated by an organized group of desert miners, Now known as the Tulishmarian Miners, Back about 60 years ago and cities were built around them for their protection and so the menhirs wouldn't be abused. The Soul Menhir's are Boulders in each of the major cities of the Manaworld. One in Hurnscald, Tulishmar, Candor, and Nivalis. Each of the stones can have any players soul grafted on, so when they die they can return to the last stone they connected with through forces unknown to any modern man. This is a great advantage for the many heroes riddled about the lands because it allows them to never truly die and they can continue to fight the battle against the darkness leeching its way back into the world.

Lore for Soul Menhir
------------------------------------------------------
(1)
pre-start:
player finds a book
by clicking bookcase at 009-2 64, 48
and should be on this tile 009-2 62, 48

[https://www.themanaworld.org/index.php/Soul_Menhir] Maybe edit to follow wiki writer's version more closely?
player reads:

But in the end it could not save them all from the power unleashed by the gods. So the stones were left to rest until many many years later.

Approximately 243 years after the great quake all of the ancient civilizations and beings have died off (it is believed) except for the humans. Of the others, a few specimens have been preserved and can be viewed in Tulishmar at the Great Magic Academy and Hall.

The soul menhirs were excavated by an organized group of desert miners, Now known as the Tulishmarian Miners, Back about 60 years ago and cities were built around them for their protection and so the menhirs wouldn't be abused. The Soul Menhir's are Boulders in each of the major cities of the Manaworld. One in Hurnscald, Tulishmar, Candor, and Nivalis. options after player clicks though above:
What do you want to do?

>Put book back and leave.
>Look through bookcase for more interesting stuff to read.
>Notice Barkeeper giving you a dirty look, for taking up bar space.

For >Look through bookcase for more interesting stuff to read.
The next text would read:
The Bartender mutters something under his voice about this not being a library.

For >Notice Barkeeper giving you a dirty look, for taking up bar space.
The next text would read:

You nervously fumble putting the book back, but when you reach over the bar, and try to place the book back in its place, you lose your balance, and catching hold of the corner of the bookcase to regain your equilibrium, you inadvertently almost knock the bookcase over, and dozens of books fall to the floor. Now you find yourself in the awkward position of being half hung over the bar, staring down at the floor. Before you right yourself, you can't help noticing that the book that you were reading is now resting on the bartender's left shoe, propped open to the title page, and has an inscription “For Kfahr, from Daddy.”

Hearing the Barkeeper mutter something under his voice about, “want them to leave drunk, not come in drunk.” You realize sitting next to Kfahr is not as bad as your present position.

Maybe you should go sit next to Kfahr, and try to strike up a conversation about the book.

------------------------------------------------------
(2)
If player completed bone knife quest, let there be a menu item along with the rest reading:
>Kfahr's book
that when clicked opens this dialog

You tell Kfahr about the book you where reading.

Kfahr, “Oh yes, my father gave that to me when I was a young boy, it is important to know the origins of the things around us. Knowing our world helps us in knowing our role in it. Also hearing about the experiences of those who came before us can help us in our own journey in life. My father is an old man, and can tell you about the days after the great quake and how he survived, if you are interested. He likes to spend his days just off the beaten path, where he can watch the passers by, and gives them a word of encouragement, if they bother to talk to him. I'm sure you can find him amongst the trees in south east Hurnscald enjoying the outdoors in the shade.

[04:14] Flint Bloodwood: and we would go talk to a gispaan
[04:15] Flint Bloodwood: and he would send us into the dark magic well
[04:15] Qwerty Dragon: yes
[04:15] Flint Bloodwood: and thats where im at so far
[04:15] Flint Bloodwood: its a good start i think
[04:16] Qwerty Dragon: adding to the dark magic
[04:16] Qwerty Dragon: good
[04:16] Flint Bloodwood: yeah
[04:16] Flint Bloodwood: not enough on that
[04:16] Flint Bloodwood: but like i was thinking the well would be like the sewers
[04:16] Flint Bloodwood: in tulish
[04:16] Flint Bloodwood: and there wold be a huge battle at the end
[04:16] Qwerty Dragon: wish we had the option to refocus from good to bad
[04:16] Flint Bloodwood: i would say 70 up battle
[04:17] Qwerty Dragon: a boss fight in those sewers would liven them up, yes
[04:17] Flint Bloodwood: not in those though
[04:17] Flint Bloodwood: in the dark magic well
[04:17] Qwerty Dragon: oh ok
[04:17] Flint Bloodwood: or the sewers
[04:17] Flint Bloodwood: either one
[04:17] Flint Bloodwood: this is a dickload of coding
[04:18] Flint Bloodwood: so
[04:18] Flint Bloodwood: your thoughts?
[04:18] Qwerty Dragon: i haven't learned coding yet, but keep planning to
[04:19] Flint Bloodwood: as do i
[04:19] Flint Bloodwood: im learning C atm
[04:19] Qwerty Dragon: does the pvp map in tulsimar still exist?
[04:19] Flint Bloodwood: no
[04:19] Flint Bloodwood: only in hurns
[04:19] Qwerty Dragon: ok
[04:19] Qwerty Dragon: maybe an your quest
[04:20] Flint Bloodwood: hmm

[04:21] Flint Bloodwood: yes
[04:21] Qwerty Dragon: oh, ok
[04:22] Flint Bloodwood: the cost will be gems
[04:22] Flint Bloodwood: 1 of each
[04:22] Qwerty Dragon: so some kind of good new items as rewards?
[04:22] Flint Bloodwood: yeah
[04:22] Qwerty Dragon: cool
[04:22] Flint Bloodwood: gems becuase gispaans were miners
[04:22] Flint Bloodwood: and to speak to this gispaan you need a price
[04:23] Flint Bloodwood: the quest will be called the gispaans revenge
[04:23] Flint Bloodwood: you fight an underling of one of the ancient gods
[04:23] Flint Bloodwood: the one you stole the worlds mana
[04:24] Flint Bloodwood: or you fight and underling of one of the good ancient gods
[04:24] Qwerty Dragon: since it is a dark magic quest, maybe fix it so that the good can not win, but their reward is based on how well they resisted before losing battle?
[04:24] Flint Bloodwood: mabye
[04:24] Flint Bloodwood: crap
[04:24] Flint Bloodwood: we should write this down lol

Maybe move your quest to Nivilus?

A resent irc post on different topic someone said:
"...though the maps for the snowland underground are needing cleaned up and some quests related in town be added."

Gave me idea, how about use well on map 020-1 just to the East of Nivilas's Soul Menhir.

When you currently click on it, after doing Well Quest (which your ideas could be used to do a second part to) https://www.themanaworld.org/index.php/Well_Quest, it just says "This is a well."

Hmm, so innocent sounding. Could it just be a misdirect, to something more sinister? How did the first person get in that well? Is there someone still down there, who may of had something to do with it? Evil based quests are already in Tonori https://www.themanaworld.org/index.php/Tonori, but not so much in Kaizei https://www.themanaworld.org/index.php/Kaizei. Could the evil in the well, have something to do with the bad attitude of the Yetis?

Good fighting evil can be chilling to the bones. But in ice caves? Noooo!

[Well, those are some more ideas.]
