Aah, now i understand it. I thought you meant sets of tools with the kits and not preprocessed working material.

Sorry for the long delay. Unfortunately there were some higher priority things i had to take care of in the last month. I hope i will be able to create the missing inventory icons before the next release so we can put the new crafting system into it:

Shouldn't there be a difference between parts and tools? Parts being sheet metal, wood, skin and cloth... tools being a hammer, nailbox, knife and needle and thread.
The second icon looks great though. First one could use a more metallic look.
Did a minute quicky how I think metal should look like, kinda. I wouldn't call it pixel art, but you'll get the idea. :)

here is the chart again:

It was planned to use the "tools" (hammer, saw, ...) to get the raw materials like (log, stone, metal).
These materials are used by Blacksmith/Huntsmen/ without additional tools...
The so called "Kits" or "Parts" contains different small things for other crafting NPCs (because they cant do it themself - for example the Blacksmith cannot work with raw leather and fur/wool) as you see on the chart.

I know its a bit confusing :(

So what you are saying is that "leather kit" is processed leather (roll of leather?), Iron kit is processed iron (metal ingots?), and sewing kit is processed thread (cloth?)

Maybe we should use the term raw leather and processed leather or something like that.

thats exactly what I have meant.

"processed <material>" sounds much better than "kit". I'll change that in the next chart update. :) thanks

missing icons:
  • raw leather (the raw skin of an animal)
after rethinking that the word raw "leather" could be misunderstood. leather is made out of animal skins, so the raw material should call "skin of an animal" and the processed one: processed leather ;))
  • processed leather (including a roll of leather as Cosmostrator suggested + leather string/band and little pieces)
    here is an image: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Leathertools.jpg
  • feathers (along with the fur, feathers should be the second part to craft the "sewing kit" because it makes no sense to use the sewing kit for arrows without feathers.)
  • optional: processed wood - (a wooden board or something) created by the huntsmen and could be used by the blackmith for sword grips or shields.

i really like this crafting idea and i think it should definitely be considerred for the new server. however, here's some input of my own. weapons, armor and clothing should be able to be crafted (some items in the game should only be crafted as opposed to being bought), but other things could be crafted like food. take 2 items that can restore minimals amounts of hp or sp and craft them into a meal that restores more than the 2 combined.
what are some other things that can be "crafted?" anybody got any other ideas.
