Nah I'm just kidding, but anyway you can give a great contribute. Did you really worked for a WoW server? Really impressive! Than surely this project will seems so easy to you. I hope to see you soon, if you can plz come to the IRC channel, there we can talk better!
Re: I want you
1.) Programming experience.Elven Programmer wrote:I'm recruiting some good workers for my project, so if you're a willing programer, not necessarily experienced leave a post here with your infos:
1 - Programming languages
2 - Network programming experience
3 - Allegro experience
4 - Developement platform and tools
5 - Knowledge of RO, RO servers emulators and preferred server
6 - Any other info you think it's important...
7 - PM some personal info
Thanks in advance
C/C++, Perl, PHP (and any language that follows along the syntax and form of those languages)
2.) Network Programming experience.
-I was a developer on the EqEmu project from near it's inception to a year and a half or so later.
-Worked on code for things dealing with reverse engineering of protocol packets (Spells, weather, help system) (Project was multiplatform c++)
-I've done plenty of network programs in Perl/C, including but not limited to.
-Working with the AOL TOC/OSCAR protocol.
-Transparent AIM login/basic service proxy/filter Perl/mySQL
-Artificially intelligent AIM conversation bot using Perl/mySQL
-My own very basic framework for a network game engine.
-I've also done plenty more in Perl, and many different things in php
For network code, I'm good with protocols and packet structures.
3.) Allegro experience?
None, haven't worked on a game in a while.
4.) Development Platform and Tools.
-Linux TheEndOfTime 2.6.5-1.327 #1 Sun Apr 18 04:51:55 EDT 2004 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
-Linux AutumnTravesty 2.6.5-1.358 #1 Sat May 8 09:04:50 EDT 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
-Linux OceanAvenue 2.6.7-gentoo-r11 #2 Sun Aug 1 15:57:41 EST 2004 i686 Pentium Pro GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
-Linux Crocomire 2.6.7-gentoo-r14 #3 Fri Aug 20 15:56:28 EST i586 Pentium MMX GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
-Linux Breezeblock (down at the moment)
-Windows XP Home edition: Violetdawn.
The three main machines all have 512mb ram (AutumnTravesty, TheEndOfTime, and VioletDawn)
The others run services like squidcache and dnscache.
5. RO knowledge?
Well, I have to say I don't know Chocolate Cupcake about RO. I was playing Everquest, and summarily quit online games completely after selling my EQ account for 2grand. I do have plenty of SoM knowledge however, and plenty of video game experience, not to mention what I've learned about online games from Everquest and helping write an emulator for it.
I poked through the code last night to give it a look-see, I'll get allegro compiled on this box and give compiling the source a shot.

You should jump on IRC and see what people need a hand with if you want to start coding.
We just released 0.0.8 and Elven is already working on the next version.
I'm currently re-designing the GUI which will need to be added to the game, there are a handful of little bugs, and the text input is really buggy on the chat.

It's not my fault I'm new here!

Hi nayr!
We are always looking for people to help out with The Mana World, and Mac OS X development is an area we need some help in... as there are problems with the Mac version currently (as you would already know). First step on the trail to joining the TMW development team is join #manaworld channel on FreeNode
We can then help you out more there. Hope to see you soon

Perfect candidate, since:
* There are many other areas than network programming to work in.
* We don't use Allegro anymore anyway. Read into SDL, and our other dependencies.
* eAthena is scheduled to be dumped, making RO knowledge irrelevant.
So, when can you start? ;-)
