Desert complete revision conceptualization

Post by Len »

Image

Here we can start planning for the new look of the desert tileset, I already know that most objects are going to need a shadow (or improved shadow), this also includes the cliffs of the tileset.

Most of the plants are not going to need to be revised (except for maybe a slight recoloring and adding shadows)

Looks good Len.

I was thinking about making a new tiles for the desert cliffs. The improvement I did on them was only 'for the time being'. We need something from scratch... I might want to attempt making such a tiles... seems like nice pratice, or is such an initiative already being developed?

Your new "desert-ground" tiles look a lot more like real sand than the current ones, good job! :)
I can't think of any reason not to use them ingame (well you may have to edit the cliff-tiles)

btw you are the Head of Pixellation, so IMO you should split work between artists.
Make a list of addition and improvements. Maybe we could help you. Remember that team work is the base of every GPLish project.

From my side I can make any dead object like wells, pools, ponds, barbells, cans, statues, sculptures, etc.
I leave ground tiles for you ;) I know that reediting whole desert is a hell-ant-like work. But I got some tiles in old convention that they could be reedited too.

Maybe we could use some of those tiles:

Go for it, just try and make them seem less straight than the current ones

*Someone could work on a better transition from water to ground (basically a beach)
*I was also thinking about improving the small tree by giving it a nicer shadow
*Adapting the old objects and plants would help
*Nicer water tiles
*any other improvements you can think of

I'm currently working on the transition from sand to grass

Nicer water tiles - they should be animated.
Trees - also could be animated
What about huge stones like in stonehenge? They could fit desert.
By huge I mean at least 3 tile tall. I think I will made a stone tutorial.

Yes, I would like to start creating places for certain monsters to spawn and hang around at. (Giving the player more incentive to explore) A Stonehenge like structure might be ideal.
