I got Bord so why not make a new hat!

I call it a Serf hat, or Peon hat. Nothing quite says indentured servitude like a el-cheepo leather skull cap. those of you who have never heard of a Serf can read all about it and the fudal system bult on them right here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serfdom. For all the people who just like digging in the filth.

I heard that maybe we should have some more low level items in game. I agree. The fact that there is a whole clan set up to help new players get decent weapons and armor to start with would scream to me that maybe there is a flaw in the scaling of how much armor one should get and how easy it should be to get in the early game. I mean how many freaking maggots did I have to kill to get that 30 bugs legs to trade for a lousy 1k gp just so I could turn around and blow it on a stupid dagger. So I'm suggesting that this could be used as a early first or second quest item.

Stats could be +2 or +3 def quest should be for something that is easy to get like maggot slime or a most some normal scorpion stingers.

Qoal I'm making the item png :)

Thanks to Matt for providing the inspiration for this hat, hopefully it will be able to hold your cone head. ;P

:lol:.. I was thinking of the filth diggers when I looked at the graphic and then you actually mentioned them. Priceless.

Speaking of prices.. I think this item should just be something you can buy.

We need to start thinking in terms of shop inventory, instead of making more and more pointless gathering quests.

That one of my favorite scenes to quote from the movie, and I would have no problem with Neko selling them for dirt cheep :)

some people IRC said that it might dangle to far from the players sprites back and look to large but now I think its Smurf-tastic :P

And I also think this should be something bought at an NPC. Right now I think there is actually an over abundance of rare items. So many new players see cool items, and they can't get them because they are a rare that can't be bought or attained for a feasible price. A few rare items are nice, but the amount there is right now is almost crazy. =\

The only rares I have made are the crown and Dev hats. the helms and chaps and cowboy hats are higher lvl items that can be got when you reach a high enough lvl to do the quest. If someone doesn't want to lvl in order to do the quest that is their problem. :P

I'd have to agree with the IRCers on that one. Keep most equipment outlines as tight to the playerset as possible. We don't want to end up with hats like this poor schmuck, I found on Google images.

All I'm saying is, when a graphic for an item or piece of equipment is submitted, the artist often attaches suggestions for possible use and distribution.. and that's great, don't get me wrong. It's simply that every item in the game can't have a quest or task revolving around it. It'd be impractical. Some things sadly, just need to just be normal items.

Level requirements are fine.. tasks or "quests" are fine.. I just think they need to be a little more interesting than some NPC telling you to go gather bug legs and just arbitrarily giving you a hat as payment.

I saw the implementation of the serf hat but I thought the price was a little high at 500 gp, I was hoping for a little lower so that it would be a more useful item to get and use with in the first 10 lvls of a players build. I was thinking about 250 gp would be a good price cause that could be got with 5 roasted maggots. Buy the time you get 10 roasted maggots you are well past lvl 10 and are looking for something better anyway. I did have someone tell be that the price is comparable to other equipment that is +2 defense like the cotton shirt but It was also pointed out that you do start with one as a basic item. If you think I'm completely out to lunch on this tell me so. :)

In the mean time I made a hat to fill the +15 def range between silk head band and the infantry/knights helms.

right now it has the working name of demon mask but I would not mind calling it an assassins mask.
This could be sold in a shop too.:)
