What About the source code of the client?

Yeah you're right. I'm also new at networking (this is my first try at networking programming) so I used the same protocol to simplify things. Also because it's a very complete protocol, so it provides a lot of features.
PS: but the real motivation is because it's required to communicate with the server. (The developer of Vidar server assured to provide a way to customize maps not the protocol so we should use RO protocol until we create our own made server)
