A map of the palace and surroundings:
Image
Proportions may vary. I just want to get my idea across
The palace is part inside the mountain, part outside. Almost every room is inside the rock, they are carved inside the stone. I've drawn the basic rooms for living, the design is not closed at all so feel free to add more rooms they should need.

It's divided in two levels (this also may be expanded at our wish). Level 1 is there, lv. 2 is the terrace and some other rooms that i haven't drawn yet to avoid a confusing drawing.

The part for the piss and poo(2) is sepparate from the part for bathing(1).

I drawed the gardens as a plain green mass. I did that just for simplification purposes. The idea is to have some eye-catching flora around the center passage (probably the only luxury in the entire palace).

The hall has not a clear fuction, is just a place to meet important guests and were the player gets instructions for the missions (if any).

There is a rampart surrounding the castle. It is connected to a central booth. Such booth serves as a place for the rest of the warriors that are not guarding the palace (they do it in turns, if you are not watching, you're sleeping in that booth).
The booth is also communicated with the central entrance (the building stick to the facade), so in case of a massive attack the can call more warriors or warn the leaders.

There is a secret passage in case everything fails.

I add this other drawing in case you have problems visualizing the front part:

Just some remarks about rooms. I think we can avoid having a small toilet and concentrate on the big bathroom area. I imagine it like a big sauna/turkish bath room, with a pool and columns...
I'd replace the bedrooms with a big room where king and queen are with their thrones, with long red carpets, and lines of guards... (bedrooms should go upstairs in my opinion). The secret passage, could be moved here, it makes more sense if royal family has to escape. In the place of toilets we could maybe put stairs? I'd also leave the passage from entrance to palace block uncovered, maybe just some columns on the sides or a simple wooden structure.

We see the sauna part the same way, as a place for bathing and enjoyment, that's exactly why i wanted to sepparate the urinary. You don't want to smell the poo while you are taking a relaxing bath, right? :P

AFAIK, this is not a monarchy, but more like a democracy, the leaders are a group of men selected democratically among the wise men of Tulimshar. Hence the need for more than a bed.
The secret passage, could be moved here, it makes more sense if royal family has to escape.
The point of the secret passage is to make it secret even for the service and guards (at least most of them). That's why i put it in a kinda strange place.
Id also leave the passage from entrance to palace block uncovered, maybe just some columns on the sides or a simple wooden structure.
Then you have to do without a place for the resting of service and guards, and (more important) you can't connect directly to the palace if you are in the terrace (you still can go to one of the sides that connect to the mountain, but is not practical in terms of a quick defense).
Of course it can be moved but i see it as more original scenario.

Maybe you were thinking that it would suppose a problem when the player is walking on the ground level :?:

A draft of one of the street of Tulimshar. You can see at the left a shop for swords:

Maybe someone wants to work on the coat; i think we should do some kind of unified coat for swords shops.

In two hours, I'm going out for 7days. Will try to work a bit on the game during my journey, I promise

ONE LAST NOTE: I put a trap door for the coal (or wathever other combustible). I don't know if this is neccessary. How's the temperature during winters? What combustible do they use (coal, wood, bushes...)? ...?

Well then it could be a big room with a big table (a round table :P )

Well a secret passage is not visible, is secret, no need to be hided in the kitchen, but hey this is only my opinion...

Oh well I guess a place for resting is necessary to the guards, but I figured out it could be cool to walk in open air through the vegetation. Maybe it could be a problem to walk without seeing where are you going...

The drawing of the street is very evocative, I really like it.
And have fun during these 7 days, don't think about tmw ok?

If it's a democracy, wouldn't the people of the parlaiment live in seperate houses with their wives and children?

And I think I'd like to see more on the outside of the mountain, some simple towers maybe, or some balconies.

That secret passage, does it lead deeper into the mountain? Shouldn't it go up, or another direction to the outside?

Well the secret passage could be a tunnel through the mountain.

For a change, there just aren't any major elements that I could object to, so why ruin your creative streak with some nitpicking..? ;)

But I do have some requests:

1) An accurate map of the city (a kind of an illustrated aerial shot / old style map).
2) A nifty solution/proposition on how to present mountains/hills in the final 2D form (well that's pretty much solved alongside the map, though).
3) Keep up the pace (a hard and optional goal that will require more people, but hey, we're on the move again, let's not stop again).

Thanks.

About the monarchy/democracy: This was discussed on IRC with Rotonen, I think. We "stablished" that it was going to be a democracy, with many mebers elected by the people. All the members live in the palace; other people that lives there are important guests, magicians, sorcerers, scientifics, etc, etc. The first take the decisions, the later just give advice.
That's why there has to be many rooms.

About the passage: Don't go so hard on the small details that can be easily changed. Maybe you are right and the passage should be just hidden, but not secret for the palace inhabitants.
Or maybe we should have two kinds of guards:
1-Regular Guards: For everyday delinquents. Not very powerful, trained or prepared.
2-Royal Guards (or something like that): A specially trained kind of guards which duty is mainly to protect the palace inhabitants. (Maybe) only them know about alternative ways of escaping (like the secret passage).

If you don't like it add your view.
