Starting your own server
Forum rules
This forum houses many years of development, tracing back to some of the earliest posts that exist on the board.
Its current use is for the continued development of the server and game it has always served: TMW Classic.
the problem is that due to latency and posible lags we can't use a battle system which requires the player to react quickly.
a short lag spike would be enough to kill someone and players with low latency connections would have a great advantage.
but that doesn't mean that we can't use a combat system which forces the player to interact a little bit more then they have to do when fighting in a regular MMORPG where you just lean back and watch your character fight.
the weapon charge system from secret of mana could be an inspiration. the player has something to do while fighting, it doesn't require the player to react quickly, and it is lag proofe (when you got a short lag while charging, you wouldn't loose any charge time. you would just charge a little bit more then you would like to).

Modanung: Dont bag Sull. He (and many others, including me) joined this project because of its initial aim to create a SoM like game. Currently, it is nothing like SoM, and doesn't seem to be getting any closer to SoM. Thats why many people have left; because TMW has been turning into another point-and-click hack'n'slash RPG.
As for Kyokai, he seemed to want TMW to be _his_ own game. Leaving because noone did anything about all his ideas (many people disagreed with his ideas).
