[REQ-CPT] What do our maggots grow into?

This thread is for coming up with a design for the final stage of the life of a maggot. We already have infants and fully grown ones.

There can also be a cocoon state in-between if desired.

A fly would be rather boring, but if you make the design interesting, anything goes.

This thread is for testing different designs, not for implementing pixel art yet.

I think the bitan is not the thing for this, no matter how sadly forgotten it is... :)

I think it should be something about the size of the giant scorpian, at the very least bigger than the player, especially as the giant maggot itself is bigger than the player.

Perhaps a centipede like creature would be good. We have snakes, and scorps, but no centipedes.

The only problem is that the wavy motion of a centipede, especially with all its legs would be very difficult to capture.

well , that bitan is something between maggot and scorpion! I think it doesn`t have the real connection to maggots.

In a way, a flying maggot would do fine.U know something that flys and bites at the same time.

You do not have to go farther than nature for inspiration.

If we want to take a fly as a model, there is a multitude of different flies out there with different details. We can pick what we want and combine how we want. We can blow some details out of proportion or diminish others.

What I'd like here to happen would be to bring ideas for the insect in question to have, for us to pick the details we want in and then actually for someone to draw the consensus together to see if it works or not.

i like the idea of one monster dropping others when it's killed

I agree. Give it a small body, make it's legs longer and 'blowfly' it's head out of proportion.

Yet some other manic thing I started and never finished... I really ought to put all my source files into my personal GIT in case someone wants to beat me to finishing it. I just never could think of how a fly could attack other than spitting acid, so I never created an attack animation or posted it. The above example was a dye test on W|R|Y (body white, eyes R, wings Y).

Posted this earlier in the wrong topic. This is a move

I like the idea of flies, nature is so great :P. Another thing we could do is have a scorpion style system where the Giant Maggot could change into either a "Fly" (easy) "Red Fly" (medium) "Black Fly" (hard) "Golden Fly" (legendary)...

Maybe :?: Don't kill me :D It is just a suggestion!

Good suggestion, but perhaps not the scorpion colours...

~"House Fly", "Horse Fly"... "Big Killer Stinging Cow-Killer Fly"?

Yes, slight differences in graphical appearence rather than ONLY recoloring them, please.
