Death world again [WIP]

Well I was thinking that we have to start somewhere so I made a tile and some remakes. The stars are a little repetitive but i can make a few to alternate.
I'm hoping for some good use out of the particle engine in creating this.
anyone up for helping?

Your star texture looks more like water or blueish sand than stars.
I would rather suggest to solve this problem technically by adding the ability to add background images to maps which behave like ambient overlays. This means that the background image could be any size and have parallax scrolling.

I also thought it was water and it doesn't help that there is a palm tree.

I'm not getting otherworldly from this at all (maybe you should base it off one of the many afterlife concepts in mythology)

From the wiki:
Dominant colors:
dark blue and purple.
Design ideas:
a) cave
b) glass floors floating over fractal background
c) 19th century look like the "end of time" in chrono trigger.
