Character moves uncontrolllably

When I walk with any kind of accessory(mouse. keyboard, gamepad) my character moves everywhere. my bindings are default, ive tried unplugging the mouse and controller; ive recompiled the game. I am in ubuntu 9.10 with client 4144. any ideas would be appreciated.

When you use a patched client, please ask the patch maker for help instead.
