Problem with Map-Server

Post by schnugge »

I've set up the latest version of eathena but now I've got a problem with my Map-Server.
Everything works, till this message appears:

Attempt to connect to char-server...
set eof :4
Map-server can't connect to char-server (connection #4).

Can you help me?

http://173.17.53.57/FAQ/FAQ.html
I have no idea how long this link we be available but this is a site I'm currently running on a machine of mine. You are welcome to use this information.
This could be a couple things
An issue with map_local.conf not having the correct Ip's
(someone should note that the top IP is to the local machine and bottom is outside network if going public)
Do not forget to complete lan_support.conf
Most information to do this can be found on your routers http page.

The other thing could be Port forwarding and I can't help you with it using the forum because that is pretty router specific.

Google How do I port forward with a Insert_router_model&name_here

Besides map-server, you should make sure you are running the other 2 binaries (login-server and char-server).

Okay the Port forwarding works(but I currently don't need it) .The _local.conf files are also like they have to be...
Can you tell what I exactly have to do with lan_support.conf ?
EDIT: @alastrim Yes I run the other two "servers" before map-server

Just like the other files you should replace all the info with your own. Accept this time its all your lan IP info (your computer IP not network IP) you can find your subnet mask udner your http from the router.

i think i "configured" it properly and searched about 2 hours for the problem but it still doesn't work...
i wonder if it was better for many persons to just upload the latest server folders on mediafire etc.

uum... weird thing is that I had an "old" server with old db's etc. and it worked.but now I've got a new computer so I've set up a new server but it doesn't work anymore...

Is someone so kind to upload a "normal" server-folder which is already configured? :P

Configuration is network specific.

change all IP's in map_local.conf and char_local.conf to 127.0.0.1 These files are located in your configuration folder and your configuration folder is located in your conf folder.
