It's odd that the 'tmw' package is being suggested to be removed, since it is retained as branding for the 'mana' package. 'tmw-music' and 'tmw-data' should be removed; 'mana-data' and the ability to download music from the update server obsolete them.
Former programmer for the TMWA server.

tmw-music only contains the branding music right? so not real game music? the tmw package of ubuntu should pull all nessecary dependencies (latest mana version).

tmw-music contains a possibly-outdated version of the in-game music. I have v0.6.1 on debian wheezy and ubuntu 12.04 both working fine, only thing is I had to check the download music box before I got any. The old client on ubuntu 10.04 plays music out of box.
Shame you don't have a record of that error message. Maybe a reinstall will show it up. There's possibly version clashes going on in which case these will have to be identified in the packaging.
