Lost a Lazurite Robe [was: game issue]

I dont really know where to post this.
Its not against a player, its against a npc.
the general store take my lazurite robe.
I dont sell it.
I went to sell some items and i open the window to sell the items when a second window appear. I close it.
And i was surprise to see 53k gp in my pocket, i have nothing before.
I just look in my inventory and i saw my Lazurite robe was selled.

The mana world just collapse when i saw that!
And people saying : you sell it.
Why i want to sell in the general store a lazurite robe?

No, i dont sell my lazurite robe.
Yes two window open one after another.

Unfortunately, this not take the ring or a pants.
Fortunately this dont take the isis heart or the jester mask i have in my inventory at this moment.

there was no gm online, so i spoke to 4144 about this. i take a screenshot of my discussion with him and i put it in attachment.

What i must do?
Empty my inventory each time i go to sell something?
Not sell items?
If it was a pants, ok np i go to find another quickly.
But i cant with the lazurite robe. The quest is closed for me now to have one the this items.
I can give the money back, but plz give me back my lazurite robe.

I play on manaplus vs 1.3.2.17. Other vs are not stable on my pc even the latest.
And im Cardinal.

For those of you who know the difficulty of successfully completing the Illia Quest, and the narrowly limited opportunities for the prizes awarded, you can understand the distress that Cardinal must be feeling over the loss of his Lazurite Robe. It is obvious that it was not the intent of Cardinal, a well-regarded player, to part with the irreplaceable robe. In the interest of fairness, I sincerely hope that someone with the ability to do so can come to the aid of Cardinal and remedy this unfortunate situation by helping him recover his robe.

As this did not belong in the court house section I moved it to what I deemed a more appropriate section.

I hope you find the help you seek, but typically once an item is sold to an NPC - even in error - there is not much anyone can do.

Unfortunately, not enough information is logged to make any sort of verified recovery feasible.

And for obvious reasons, we can't have a policy of restoring every item that someone claims was "deleted", even if by a bug, which this does not seem to be.

Maybe when I make tmwa fully transactional there will be, but I have a lot of code to write before then.

Is there any way to verify that he once had the robe, and now does not? Could the trade logs be checked to make sure he didn't trade it away? I'm sure there is some sort of information the server could give to help validate (or invalidate) his claim.

If his claim can be at least partially validated, the player community could help this poor guy get a new robe without as much fear they are being scammed.

I'm sure some level90+ players with tons of alts have multiple robes.. Or could run the quest with him to get one.

Maybe his quest status could be reset...?

If true, this would limit Cardinal's advancement by losing one of the most sought-after items in the game.

On the 14th, there were 42 Lazurite Robes on characters, and 16 in storage. Cardinal had one.

A day later, we had one less in the game.

Cardinal no longer had one.

I didn't find logs for sales to NPCs, but the item did not appear in logs of trading. There seems to be no question that Cardinal lost his robe at the time claimed, and it disappeared from the game.
This is one of the few situations where I think it's appropriate for an admin to create an item for a specific person.

Unless someone provides a specific concern, I suggest we replace this item.


At a gameplay level, I wish TMW had a way to track what characters sold to NPCs, and give a grace period during which the character can buy back the items at the same price.

As Frost has shown one of the robes vanished from game, so Cardinals story holds up.

Imho: Let him pay back the cash he got from the sale, 45k or whatever it was, and give him a new and shiny robe - that would make everyone happy i guess. I really hope he gets his robe back and i can't see any reason for it to be seen as unfair or something by other players.

Also I would like to have some option in manaplus to be able to lock items from being sold, like right click - protect from trade in inventory or something like that. I've been quite weary of selling rares/illia quest rewards by mistake this would make me feel a bit safer when selling stuff.

I feel very anxious when i sell, but i empty my inventory when i sell now. Its boring but i feel more safe like this.

And thx to ppl to have bring some solutions to give idea for the developers.
Perhaps you will find a way to don't lets this happen again to another player.

Then it's just a matter of finding him online when an admin's around. Finding an admin is tough.

Are there any GMs or even Devs that regularly see this guy online? They could be given a robe to trade with him in return for the money, then spend the money on a drop party.
