left shift

Post by ksso »

Hello

just do not know if this is a bug, or only works in some context, or is a typo

at commands https://gitlab.com/manaplus/manaplus#mouse
says: Holding [Left Shift] prevents from walking when attacking.

if it is the shift key, it stop attacking the character (do not prevent from walking)
if it is not the shift key, do not know then about what needs to hold
thank you

p.s., using manaplus default settings

F9 > Quick

Disable auto-attack (usually is at A - go, attack, pickup)

I believe you might also need to tweak a few other settings there to have the intended behavior.
Honestly, M+ has so many settings, I forgot which one exactly prevents that annoying behavior.

Everyone has a custom setup, I think. I change attack type based on what I'm doing. I never use default attack because I use left shift to cancel attack and then arrow to move while "go and attack" is set, but I'm a warrior. As a range fighter it can be less dangerous to simply use the default attack and move to the right range. You can set the range of "go and attack" too, if you prefer, to match your weapon range, I think. I keep all the other options in the quick tab set to max range, like pickup, but "go, attack and pickup" looks a bit annoying so I only use it to hunt items.

There are options you can set to designate certain keys to certain options. I suggest disabling the yellow bar with a toggle key for it and only enable when you want to change something, otherwise if you type something before hitting enter, you can change those yellow bar settings by mistake.

As an example to change my attack/pickup type, I do [BACKSPACE] to enable bar, "[" and "]" keys to select debug tab so I can see what I am changing to, " ' " key to change attack/pickup, then [BACKSPACE] to disable the yellow bar again. It saved me a ton of grief once I realized I could toggle the yellow bar.

Ok,

thank you for the reply
about shift, yes, by default left shift is used to stop the attack (in manaplus)
:)

I'll try something about, however, I must do it carefully cause last time lost the ability to reset changes and freezes the game and so on,... there are options that could do that... boring to reinstall again all.. (advanced options may be called that so a newbie don't mess it, or a preview before apply changes)
The other thing is that is boring with this keyboard (cause it do not have f1, f2, f3.. options). Just recently learing about yellow bar and so on.
then again thanks :)
