Everyone has a custom setup, I think. I change attack type based on what I'm doing. I never use default attack because I use left shift to cancel attack and then arrow to move while "go and attack" is set, but I'm a warrior. As a range fighter it can be less dangerous to simply use the default attack and move to the right range. You can set the range of "go and attack" too, if you prefer, to match your weapon range, I think. I keep all the other options in the quick tab set to max range, like pickup, but "go, attack and pickup" looks a bit annoying so I only use it to hunt items.
There are options you can set to designate certain keys to certain options. I suggest disabling the yellow bar with a toggle key for it and only enable when you want to change something, otherwise if you type something before hitting enter, you can change those yellow bar settings by mistake.
As an example to change my attack/pickup type, I do [BACKSPACE] to enable bar, "[" and "]" keys to select debug tab so I can see what I am changing to, " ' " key to change attack/pickup, then [BACKSPACE] to disable the yellow bar again. It saved me a ton of grief once I realized I could toggle the yellow bar.
