Killing phamtom ?

I was killing some snakes and black scorpions on the beach and suddently something attack me (no mosters around) I try to avoid walking (I though it was a monster behind a tree or something) but nothing, my char continue receiving hits again and again, at that time I was just running away, because is a level 73 char did resist a good amount of hits but I died, killed by a phantom...
